I saw this one at the theater as a lad as well. Don't think I've seen it since, but that Hungry Heifer song does still get in my head whenever I think of the film. And I didn't know this was a Mick Garris film. Underrated filmmaker right there. And Lin Shaye too? Sounds like I need to revisit this one. Top notch video as always. And glad to learn some science too.

Hey Rob! I think in your case, the creature FX alone makes this one worth another shot. Thanks for popping in man! SCIENCE! 😅👍

Awesome vid dude! Totally enjoyed taking this trip down nostalgia lane. Really great edit Anthony, packed with laughs, I love it! This kind if 80s movie gets better with age. Makes me realise how lucky we were to live through this era. Despite the stigma of straight to video, I have to say I benefitted from that as most of the horrors were age restricted so I didn't see any of them in the theatre. Still, great memories and watching this FDT episode makes me want to slap Critters 2 on and re-live the good old days again! 😂 Cheers, mate.

Greg! I feel the same way man, I think in the case of Critters 1 and 2, they were near perfect for what they were. I also feel grateful to have come up in that era. I'm a huge horror fan but I look back at a given year in the 80's it brings back memories of so many movies like Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Batman, Twins, Kindergarten Cop...etc...and I was lucky enough to see all those in the theater. The stigma of straight to video, also never really hit me either. I was able to see some early Marvel stuff like Punisher that way too, so I'm on the same page. Beetlejuice I discovered on video too lol. Anyway, thanks for watching as always man! Be well!

Critters always felt like low grade Gremlins. Man, I can still see it on the shelf at Blockbuster. And that dude from Wargames was in it, the one who said, "Go right through Falken's Maze!", the hacker buddy. Great review as always. 👍
@FeverDreamlandTheater5 ай бұрын
lol 😅, I think the director himself even described them that way 'gremlins rip-off'. Much thanks for watching Rez! Have a good week ahead. Also, I have to check out Wargames again, I forgot about that one.

When I was little, I remember being terrified by that scene in the trailer where the guy falls off the stool and into the critters. As an adult, it makes me laugh my ass off. I loved Crittters 1 and 2. Great movies. Another great review, man. Keep ‘em up.

I'm with you, lol. They even bite off his toes. The critter ball devouring the guy is what got me. Now it's goofy as heck but back then it did creep me out. Thanks WW, have a good one!

I haven't seen the Critters movies in an age, so it was a blast to be reminded of the second one with your review. I forgot just how fun these were. Alas, it is definitely a shame Robert Englund couldn't have done a cameo in the film. Thanks for covering this!

Yeah that teased Freddy cameo will always bug me. Ha ha. Plus all these movies were under New Line Cinema. Critters 2 came out in 88 which, the same year Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and Freddys Nightmare series also dropped. So Freddy had already crossed into his mainstream era when people were rooting for him. The timing was perfect. Ah well. Wasn't meant to be. Much thanks for watching Gory Rory!

I honestly was quite disappointed with this one when it first landed on VHS back.(don't even recall it getting a theatrical run here.) ... but I have been meaning to give it a second try. I was a spoiled eeejit back then. Thanks for the reminder Anthony. Great video. Lots of nice nuggets of trivia which I have come to expect from this perfect channel.

Heeey T! Yeah I recall you saying this one wasn't really your thing. It's all good man. I have a sweet spot for many of these 80s little monster flicks. Thanks for popping in dude! Have a good one! 🤜🤛

Hi Anthony, hope you and the family had a wonderful holiday and New Year. I love Critters especially when they form into the big ball.

Heeey wassup Ariel, hope you have been well too and all the best to you & your fan. Happy 2024! Thanks for popping in. The Critter ball alone is a good reason to check this out. : )

Waitamin...there was a Ted series?! I love both of these, 1 and 2. I saw the first one on VHS at a buddy's house so I was first in line when this one hit the theater. It was several rewatches before I even noticed some of the goofier parts, but it's still awesome. 🤘

Hey Shadowvessel! "It was several rewatches before I even noticed some of the goofier parts, but it's still awesome. 🤘" Same here! I had always had recalled this one being lighter in tone than the original, but it wasn't until recent rewatches, years later, that I also caught the more goofy stuff. 🤣 The Ted series just started on Peacock, I've heard good thigns about it, but I still have to check it out myself. Thanks for watching!

Yo, FDT! I always trust your reviews to see what movies to check out. I've been meaning to watch the first Critters and I'm definitely watching this. I really do miss the over the top, slapstick humor in movies.

Heeeey Charles! ha ha, yeah this one certainly has a ton of over the top stuff. It's a fun movie overall. The original is darker in tone. Thanks for watching! Have a good one!

That was a competitive year for sure - Phantasm II also got lost in the shuffle. Great review Anthony.

Phantasm II...another good example. Yeah it makes sense when you look at the bigger picture why a smaller movie would get lost in the shuffle. Thanks Mr. Dan, always great to hear from you. Have a good day ahead! 👊

I’m gonna a watch this movie soon. Then I’ll watch the rest of your vid. I enjoyed the first Critters. Garris did a fascinating interview with John Carpenter. And I enjoyed his Shining tv movie.

No prob Max, thanks for watching man! Hey was the interview you noted from Garris' Masters of Horror series? I had a little blurb about his resume here I ended up trimming along the way.

Not as good as the first but still a hoot. A popcorn movie. Grab a big bowl of popcorn, a can of soda, squish yourself into an easy chair and enjoy.

I think that's the best approach to this flick. It's just a goofy good time. If I'm in the mood for something darker, I watch the first one, but for something more out there, I go for part 2.

I kind of liked C2 mainly because I thought Scott Grimes was cute😅 Why didn't you mention Critters 3? It had a future Academy Award winner ( Leo DiCaprio) in it. I'm 💀🤣🤣🤣

Ha ha, well in that case would you rate it 4 out of 5 or 5 out of 5 'Cute Scott Grimeseseses? 😅 Soooo Critters 3, lol I don't know. I recall seeing that on video many years ago, or maybe on cable and being a little let down. What are your feelings on the next few movies in the series? Thanks for watching btw Nye, always a pleasure!

Never watched Critters.. so which is better, Critters or Gremlins? I know very different , yet similar.
@FeverDreamlandTheater5 ай бұрын
Hey wassup Cirespeed. No contest in that case, I'd go with Gremlins all the way. The Critters movies are like the weird underdogs I also really like too but for different reasons.
