I think one that should be included is the war criminal who can wish himself into the painting. He is is being chased and runs into the dark musuem. He goes to where he thinks the river picture is and at the last minute sees that pictures have been rearranged.

This show was my intro to the horror, dystopian syfi genres when I was 5 yo. My favorites are the Sins of the Father with Richard Thomas and Geraldine Page and The Catapiller with Laurence Harvey. That one inspired my life long fear of bugs. I also loved the artwork and sculptures. I heard unfortunately that the artwork is lost. There are a couple I would love to hang in my home.

I never bought into Shatner being a bad actor when I have seen overwhelming evidence to the contrary, not just his work in Twilight Zone, But in other works, even in Star Trek itself. Does he ham it up? Sure, but he knows when to be a serious dramatic actor when the material calls for it. Speaking of which, 9 out of 10, his ham acting often elevated bad material just as much as his great acting showcased the quality of good writing.

I gotta tell you, I have ptsd from the opening music as a child at my Nannys, lol, but I've always been drawn to this show like a moth to a flame. Thank you. Absolutely loved.

"There Are No More McBanes" caused many restless nights for me as a kid, those glowing eyes were leering at me through the closet blinds...and I always am drawn back into the eerie "Phantom Farmhouse" with it's very 70s multicolor rehab treehouse loft go-go platforms and Trina Parks being super foxy. "Something In the Woodwork"and the ghost of the evil murderer that haunts the attic of Geraldine Page's house...how he hates her...the martinis ... wasn't her ex husband a Tarzan? But that face creeped me out....and "The Diary" with Patty Duke and Lyndsay Wagner...."anyone have a pen....please someone give me a pen!" But after seeing "Feast Of Blood" with Sandra Locke's broach...the eyes...and "Pickman's Model" the hands...the clawed foot stomping on a painting and tube of paint...and a huge well in a basement in Boston. Terrifying.

Same, it's safe to say we'll probably see TZ on tv again one day. Hopefully whatever form it takes in the future will break new ground and remain true to the spirit of Rod Serling.

One of my favorite segments "Cool Air" didn't make your Top Ten. Based on a short story by H.P. Lovecraft, the appearance of the orange-tinted model that was used when the woman removed the towel from the lead characters head well after he had run out of ice was terrifying to me as a young teenager watching it for the first time. Although tame by today's standards, that image really stuck with me in my young mind at the time. Also, the ending sequence with the tombstone with 2 different death dates was another thing that made the episode memorable. I certainly would have had this segment in the list over a couple of the others you picked (the "Red Velvet Ropes" boxing segment or "You Can't Get Help Like That Anymore" automated persons ones for example), but to each their own I suppose. Was surprised that "Cool Air" didn't make your list though as it was definitely one of my favorites of the series...

Great list! Surprised at the inclusion of The Ring with the Red Velvet Ropes, but pleasantly so. I always thought Aunt Ada could have been directed by Sam Raimi. I love this show, while there is lots of small fry crap, what is good is better than or as good as anything else. All bow to ROD!

And the spoofy one with the funeral home. Monsters and witches come to a funeral for a vampire. It nearly drove the funeral director crazy with fear but then at the end he got a big wad of money.

Don't forget the creepy song on the jukebox in a diner. "If you leave me tonight." Everyone talked about it the next day and the DJs played it on the radio.

It’s not fair to label this show as Rod Serling’s as he neither created it, produced it, nor worked as story editor on it, as he had done all three on TZ. He was paid as an actor to be the host, except for a few scripts he sold to the show (which, as you note here, were among its best; including my personal favorite “They’re Tearing Down Tim Reilly’s Bar”). The series had its moments, but it was very different in style and substance from what TZ had been, and much more inconsistent in quality. Sometimes it was downright silly.

Thank you for gathering these episodes. This is a classic horror show from my childhood. The theme music and those paintings were enough to send chills down my spine. Not every story was as good as these. But, you've gathered some of the best.

I prefer traumatized, terrified, overwhelmed, and slowly going nuts Barbara of the original over "bad-assed" macho, gun-toting, action-hero Barbara of this remake. I think it's more dramatic. And not every female character can be a "bad ass" a la Sigourney Weaver in Aliens. I think ever since THAT movie a lot of movie audiences have pretty much required and demanded THAT of every movie heroin, often rather stupidly.
