A doctor and his wife attempt to convert a dilapidated mansion into a drug-rehabilitation center. However, there's an ancient terror that resides in their cellar with other plans. Richard Crenna and Joanna Pettet star in this 1978 cult-classic, 'The Evil.'

I enjoyed this movie too. I’m a big fan of Andrew Prine and his performances always stand out for me. His death scene in the movie was a highlight for me. I was course wanted him to survive but oh well. I got to meet Mr. Prine in person about 1 year prior to his actual death and he was a great man and was an amazing actor.

Hi Helane! Prine had the most memorable death scene in the movie, especially with the lead up. That's awesome you were able to meet him. I really liked him here to and am curious to check out his other work. Thanks for watching & have a nice week ahead! : )

Absolutely brilliant! Crenna is a boss. I'd love to see this and will definitely be hunting it down. Beautiful Tie Fighter work, man! That was hilarious. Ben Burtt's influence is far reaching. Most excellent, dude! 🤘

Hi Greg! There are certain actors like Richard Crenna who are just really cool to cover. Plus I've wanted to use that Rambo clip for 3 years now, lol. That tie-fighter bit cracked me up. I've been so into Star Wars lately, with the new show, so when I watched this film, it was meant to be a break from Star Wars....but nope...out of nowhere there's random tie-fighter sound fx 🤣😂🤣😂 Thanks as always for watching man, have a great week ahead! 🤜🤛

Your videos usually make me laugh but this one had me cackling. 😂 The Evil is definitely going on my watch list. I'm loving that it's fast paced so there are no lulls and looks like it's stood the test of time with it's effects and look and feel of the movie. Thank you for another awesome recommendation and breakdown, Anthony! ✨

Great choice of an underrated film. The Newcastle After Dark channel hosted this film and they were fans of the ending as am I. That whole scene could have come across as goofy but it really worked. Buono (and his huge head) was fantastic. Awesome job with the edits as always!

Hey, Anthony! Wow, another fantastic review! I had never heard of this movie but now I am definitely going to check it out! Thanks for putting the spotlight on these kinds of cult movies. Interesting, I had no idea there was a George O'Hanlon Jr, but he is indeed the son of George O'Hanlon the original voice of George Jetson, which is cool (for me at least). And of course I'm always down for anything with Victor Buono. Also great to hear this one is on Tubi, that and Freevee are both awesome!

Hey Cinecrisis, thanks for checking in! Yeah I wanted to have at least one horror movie covered for the season, so I figured why not try something very 70's this time. I read up on Victor Buono in relation to this, he was often cast in older roles due to his appearance, even when he was young. Anyway, I want to check out some of his other films. Have a good one!

OMG! I used to watch The Evil constantly when Fox would show it on the weekends back in the 90s. Idk why I still haven't bought a physical copy of it - my older brother does at least. 😅 I really dig this one because house was so violent towards the guests. That house was like: Ya'll not getting away from this house 😂. The dog scene- still gets to me. 😢 You know what I'm talking about? A steller review as always.

Awesome vid! Interesting thoughts and great editing. Hilarious use of the tie fighter sound! That is strange that they used that sound for the dog lol. I enjoyed the ending of the movie. It surprised me that they went there. I just realized the title of the movie is probably a clever joke. The devil with the d left off. A little hint like Darth Vader sounding like Dark Father in Swedish. I love movies like this movie and Burnt Offerings and Let’s Scare Jessica to Death. Cheers 👍🎞️🎥📽️🎃🎃🎃🎃

Hey Max! Burnt Offerings, Let’s Scare Jessica to Death and for sure I would throw in The Amityville Horror are key 70's horror. As a huge Star Wars fan I geeked out when the tie sound popped in. I actually had clips of Jason running with the tie sound and the chair throw from Malignant with the tie sound too, but you know how it is with editing, you never know if maybe you are pushing a joke too far, lol. Thanks for checking in as always, have a good one!

Maybe it's just me, but nothing beats cool wire-work from old-school horror movies. Nowadays it would be done with CGI. Cool review bro 🦊👍
@FeverDreamlandTheater
@FeverDreamlandTheater 9 ай бұрын
Hey Fox! I agree, about the CGI. Sometimes it could maybe work if it is used subtly to just enhance the scene. But sometimes they just go overboard with CGI and any sense of realism is lost. At least with practical, most FX stay a little more grounded. Thanks for checking in man, always appreciated!

My dad owned a theatre way back when. It's odd, but I think I actually have the original poster for this movie somewhere in my house. I was a big horror fan and remember many nights where I went in the snackbar after we closed and got creeped out by the scary posters. If, if I can find it I could mail it to you. I would rather give it to someone who liked it, than let it rot. Let me know. I sent you a email.

Anthony, great review as usual. Almost enough to make me watch the movie....almost, he heh. [For anyone else reading this, the author knows that I am a fan of his, despite hating horror, and I won't normally even sit in the same room as a horror movie.] That being said, how about a review double feature: the original Nosferatu and the 'documentary' Shadow of the Vampire. At least with those two, I might be able to add something intelligent to the conversation, and not just a bit of babbling to goose the algorithm along. Slow and steady does win the race, tho... Keep up the good work. PS think you might do a crossover with Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit and Peter Jackson's work as a horror director? Tolkien himself had some very terrifying sections of horror in the original books, (all of the Old Forest and the Barrow wights were not filmed at all, and I bet that PJ would have done that justice) and plenty of the stuff of nightmares made it into these films. Or since Halloween is a'comin, a full retrospective on the Universal and Hammer monster flicks, and the Abbott and Costello monster comedies would be welcomed I'm sure. Just a thought!
@FeverDreamlandTheater

Hi Marie! I thank you and the algorithm thanks you. lol 🤣😂 Whenever I go beyond TZ it's uphill battle, eh, it's all good. No matter what, I need to refresh by talking about other stuff sometimes. These real estate developers really need to start checking more closely for gateways to hell. It's a real problem. It's also probably a good to ignore trapdoors sealed with crosses as well. That's been my experience. As to the film, I'm pretty sure I have the trailer on one or more of my numerous trailer comps. Looks neat. But, I think the question really is....does the dog sound like a tie fighter....for does the tie fighter sound like the evil dog?

"does the tie fighter sound like the evil dog?" 😱 - mind blown - lol and just like that, I will never view Star Wars the same way ever again. 😂😂😂 Hey Rob, thanks for watching man & for making me crack up. Also, speaking of real estate developers, that actor upfront who sold the couple the property was Milton Selzer a TZ veteran, he was in Hocus Pocus & Frisby and The Masks. I'm now at a bizarre point where no matter what movie or tv show I randomly watch, I'll find a Star Wars connection or a Twilight Zone connection. lol. Have a good week ahead!
