It's fixed on protecting freedom. Learn More: www.crkt.com/yukanto-fixed-bla...
This tactical fixed blade knife is built much like its designer James Williams-tough. A beefy G10 handle provides superior grip in close quarter battle environments. The modified tanto blade allows for maximum penetration and slashing cuts against enemies. Finally, a sheath with a molle-compatible gear clip puts your knife at-the-ready for any surprises that may come your way.
Yukanto™ designer James Williams of Encinitas, California, is a veteran who has trained, competed in and taught several different martial arts disciplines. He also teaches close quarter combat to police and military, foreign and domestic. His knives have been a staple for military Special Forces and Tactical Law enforcement communities around the world for years. Williams designed the Yukanto™ at the request of military Special Operators, knowing that it would see more than its share of close-quarter combat situations.
The Yukanto™ features a clip-blade crafted in the Osaraku style made famous by the 16th century Samurai warlord, Takeda Shingen. Compact in size, it still comes up big on cutting abilities when called upon for duty. It's no wonder the name translates to "Sword of Valor".
When you need a more compact fighting tool for maximum penetration, the Yukanto™ is ready to serve and protect you.

The only thing holding me back from buying this knife is the sheath that is really pretty limited to MOLLE. Sure, I could rig up some sort of paracord rig like the obake has but I'm not looking for that sort of setup. There should be some way to attach a teklok, g clip, or something to the sheath and then you'd have yourself a winner. I'd probably shave that handle down and do a cord wrap on the handle, too.

This thing is awesome. I've seen the custom and midtech, and I would love to get one, but they are very pricey. This was perfect, but I guess I missed the boat by a lot. Wish I could still get my hands on one. Anyone selling?

The G10 handle has the sort of texture that will not let your hand slide. It's aggressive G10 with solid jimping on both sides of the handle.

The knife looks great...but how strong is the tip?
@saintnick0116911
@saintnick0116911 7 жыл бұрын
Solly1984 the tip will roll if the knife falls on a hard surface. since the knife comes to a needle point with the distal taper it is very easy to dammage the tip but it can be fixed if you sharpen it. I have a CRKT Hissastsu folder with the same blade shape and the first time I opened it the knife flew out of my hand and hit my tile floor. the next time I opened it i had noticed that the tip was rounded and. but i sharpened it and reprofiled the tip and i havent had any problems since. all of the James Williams CRKT are great.

Is there a belt carry option available for the Yukanto and how it would work/look like?

No belt carry option on this one. A little creativity and I'm sure you could find a way to mod/make it work for belt carry. -Ben

The sheath is only molly compatible which is why it's being discontinued. They should have thrown in a belt carry attachment and it would be in more hands. This is unfortunate because it could have had potential and been a much much better system. How did this ever hit the market without a belt attachment as well. Common sense is common for everyone unfortunately.

Call me crazy, and no offense to Williams sensei, but here lately Doug Marcaida has really been out designing James Williams with the D.A.R.T. and the DMax. It's seems he's really had the train of thought to think of knives that fit the bill to be carried daily in any clothing and in most areas with ease, where as with Williams sensei it seems like he's been designing exclusively for active military with the partial exception of the Heiho. And even that just seems like an afterthought of a knife. I mean they're great knives for what they're made to do, but for most of us they'll just sit at home on the shelf most of the time as they tend to overshoot many state length restrictions. With Doug, he's actively designing knives to fit varying roles and applications that can also be carried across multiple states with little worry. Not to mention the mandatory inclusion of trainer options with his designs. It just kind of bugs me that Williams sensei so highly advocates that citizens be armed, yet seems to be actively designing knives that the average citizen can't legally carry. Even going so far as to put "For Professional Use" on the box.

He designed some flashlight for self defense and he says a tactical flashlight is the most valuable tool for civilian self defense. The Williams pen is also highly effective as a legal semi-concealed carry weapon(yes, both of the flashlight and the pen can be carried on an airliner). I think he just have a different philosophy with Doug regarding the issue of self defense.

I'm aware of the pen and flashlight and don't care for either of them. I'm just not on board with the "tactical pen" philosophy. And regardless of common belief, a TSA worker can confiscate a tactical pen or anything they deem to be "weaponized" in any way, including flashlights as well. A large chisel tip Sharpie will work just as well, or even better in many cases than your average tactical pen and is much less likely to be deemed dangerous or weaponized. What I'm pointing out is that, through his designs it's as if he's trying to say that common citizens should not have edged weapons. Whereas Doug seems to design around the idea of the average Joe that has to function in every day life. Which would make carrying things like the Hissatsu, Hissou, Shinbu, Sakimori, and the above knife, very difficult. Not to mention all but one of his folders fall above the 3.5" blade limit that's catching on across the country, and none fall under the 2.5" limit that is in effect in more than a few areas at present. Something Doug actually put thought into. And believe it or not, Williams and Marcaida's philosophies aren't as different as outward appearance would suggest.

DeadBoysTwo I guess where they came from influenced their philosophies quite heavily. I'm not that familiarized with Filipino martial philosophy, but Japanese Budo describes this idea of dedicated warriors, where James seems took on from there and built the idea of you either choose to devote yourself becoming a warrior, or keeping yourself away from danger and let others take care of the messy jobs. He has some videos on his channel regarding the choice of becoming a warrior. You can send him a comment on those videos if you would like to make some suggestions to him. He seems pretty active in terms of replying relevant comments.

DeadBoysTwo Regarding the idea of tactical pens, my understanding is they are not necessarily more effective than normal pens, but more reliable to be used as a kubaton. They sure are inferior weapons when compare to knives or guns, but much better than bare handed, and the inferiority as weapons justified them to pass most security checks. I dislike overly sharp points on tactical pens and my personal carry is a schrade fountain pen with relatively blunt tip, so it will inflict pains but unlikely to cause open wounds. Williams pen, as I don't really like the sharp tip, has smooth and elegant shape, concealed its functionality pretty well. The same goes to those flashlights. At least he took the effort to design those tools as non threatening as possible.

I'm well aware of his KZbin channel and his videos, but one thing to clarify is that he does not promote "budo" philosophy. Trust me when I say that there is nothing regarding his work you could point out that I'm not already familiar with. But "budo" is something he has nothing to do with. And again, I'm just not on board with the idea of tactical pens. If you take something that's suppose to be an improvised weapon and weaponize it, it's no longer an improvised weapon, it's just a weapon. And call me crazy, but I've been lead to believe that the whole point of a tactical pen is to serve as an inconspicuous defense tool. But the more it's built up an weaponized the less inconspicuous it becomes. Whereas a large Sharpie will never be questioned and offers more impact and a better grip in the hand. Test it if you don't believe me.

fivez1a Keep in mind, this is a tactical knife to be used by trained users in tactical applications. That process might look something like this: Step 1: Avoid fight Step 2: Avoid fight Step 3: Fight happens Step 4: Engage for life preservation. Step 5: Use knife as last resort. Step 6: Opponent feels but does not see knife.
