About me:
I am a 3rd year SRNA & ICU nurse. I went to nursing school to get my ADN, started working and then went back for my BSN. I was a travel nurse for 2 years before starting CRNA school. I loved travel nursing so much but I also love anesthesia so I went back to school to become a CRNA. I plan to continue my travel nursing career when I become a nurse anesthetist! Fitness is also a huge part of my life. I've competed in powerlifting and Crossfit. Jon and I own a gym together! We are also foster parents to dogs and children!

Love the tip about wearing your workout clothes to work. I know it’s silly, but after a 12-hour shift, sometimes just the thought of having to wriggle into gym clothes and deal with my dirty scrubs is enough of a deterrent🙃

Once you’re finished with school do you have the option to work short or long cases? Also, are traumas typically shorter than say a plastic surgery case? Thank you, love your videos!!

It really depends. I've had super long trauma cases where extremities are really difficult to repair and a maxillofacial case take the surgeon literally 5 minutes (going to sleep, positioning, and wake up took almost an hour for a 5 min procedure). I've also had a short ortho trauma case that takes less than an hour total and then a plastics case take 10 hours. It's really a toss up and has a lot of different factors like anatomy, surgeon/resident speed, and if there are any complications. As far as I know when you get out they like to have a fair rotation of assignments, so it would be different each day (this also depends on what type of facility and assignment process they have).

hey id look into that because idk where you are from but in rhode island hospitals are slowly not allowing nurses to just have associate degrees now. they much have bachelors. i dont want you to graduate and then not find a job due to just having an associates. so try to make sure your state/country isnt like my state!

I like shorter cases (under 2-3 hours) the most. Abdominal cases, pediatric dental, ortho, vascular stuff. Really anything interesting!

Some schools allow you to work a little bit and some don't allow it at all. If you can work it is very limited, like 1 or 2 shifts a month usually.
