Croagh Patrick Pilgrim Trail

The Croagh Patrick hike was challenging with a rocky terrain and a steep long climb to the summit At times we were not sure if we were going to make it, but the fellow hikers were supportive and cheered you on to the top. Well worth the hike beautiful views of the bay and village below and a neat church to walk around. Quite a festive atmosphere at the top, with people cheering, laughing and happy to have made it to the summit. If your in the area and looking for an adventurous hike Croagh Patrick will not disappoint.

My wife and I are planning on doing the climb this time while on a 6 week visit to Mayo. Can you give us an idea of how long it takes to reach the summit and how long the decent takes? Best time to start and what is the estimated finish time of decent. Thank you and enjoyed this video. Great job!

Thanks! It took us 2 hours to reach the summit, going at an easy pace. It took 1 hour and 40 minutes to get back down. We started around 11 a.m. that seemed like a good time to start. A lot of it depends on the weather. We got lucky, and it turned out to be a beautiful view at the summit after starting in the drizzle. 🤞also, we were glad we brought food to eat at the summit before heading back down after a half-hour break. Awesome vid brother! Again thanks so much for sharing these adventures. Question: at about 8:02, at the summit, what was up with the crib and stuff in it? Couldn’t quite make out what that was… also, that trail? Barefoot?!? My dawgs would be shredded dude lol

Fyi We lrish mountain runners raced it over a few decades,until parked for pilgrims safety.Start/finish at Campbells pub to top and back,regularly won in sub 50 minutes.Merry Christmas.
