Without peppering croatias goal with shots england were largely in control of this match in first half but once petisic equilised their tails were up and it seemed to deflate england. Englands lack of experience told in the end. They have restored english pride however this tournament was a bit too early. The euros in two years time looks very promising. Respect to croatia though they have progressed through three extra time games. Good luck to them in the final.

Nah, they can never win a championship with Spurs' Kane at the helm. Spurs is a bottling team. For a reason. Kane can't deliver when the defending is tight. The Croatian's broke Southgate system, by targeting the wings & pushing England's wing backs back, to support a England back three...That mean't, the wing backs couldn't lend support to the midfield, that got completely over ran after the first half & England's midfield couldn't mount attacks to support the front players, who became isolated....England rode the luck of a favorable draw of teams this World Cup, but, came up short against a team of highly technical players... This young England team can go home proud.

It's funny how poor England still are with management. Wilshere was their only creative player from deep, Barkley would have been a great addition in transitioning, Lingard, Hendo, Kane, Rashford, awful performances. RLC wouldn't have done much tbf. Good to see Croatia through, Modric to lift the BDO if he pulls off the win. England just played a Conte system with a set up of Mou, played like Pep with no interiors of threat. Stoned started to even play forward, no one wanted to take control. Awful display from England but Wenger or LVG for Southgate to build for 2018.

It's a young, inexperiened England squad, with overall limitations, but they've done well and restored pride in the national team. Yes, they had an easier path to the semi-finals than any of the other 3 teams. There have been long term problems with the style of football England play: lack of possession, lack of game management, lack of tactical sophistication. Plenty of heart, plenty of effort, good team spirit and lack of egos but not able to combine the individual abilities into a good enough system of play. Above all a competent, level headed manager, who I am delighted for in restoring his football reputation fully after any fallout from the '96 penalty miss and being dismissed as manager at Middlesborough.
