Two things stood out for me in this game: 1. Germany came out of the dressing-room thinking they would steamroll over Mexico. 2. Mexico defended fabulously and are the best counter-attacking side of the tournament so far. Germany must win against Sweden or else I fear a draw will see them going home early. They must also show respect to the other teams in the competition who are all there on Merit.

The people's Champion! Germany played very good its just the combination between the teams conditioning and the couches game plan that killed Germany. Germany came into the game thinking they could just do the same stuff and win an Mexico did the opposite they studied Germany and came up with a game plan to beat them. This is why Mexico won.

Great analysis, I would underscore the phenomenal physical conditioning of mexican players...without the legs to carry out a game plan it wouldnt be possible. Id like to know how far Layun ran...that guy didnt stop.

Didn't watch the game but well done to Mexico. To beat one of the favourites and current world champion's is a wonderful achievement. So far the world cup has been interesting. Argentine draws, Brazil draws, Germany loses, France barely win, Spain draw although it was against Portugal and in form Ronaldo. Uruguay also win but right at the end of the match. Lets see what happens in the 2nd round of group games.

+Hooked on Chronics True. England must be more clinical at finishing off their chances. They should have been 3-0 up by 20-minutes. Plus, England were playing against 13 men for most of the game. Still, Tunisia are the highest ranked African side and were no pushovers. No easy games in this tournament and all teams but be respected.

They left Boateng stranded out there, and lozanos speed was too much. Germany looked slow as hell. If only Germany had a young guy that was really fast and could have created some chances with his speed....

No one writes off a team like Germany. The issue is that now they're in a very uncomfortable and unexpected position. After falling to Mexico, there's nothing sure for Germany. I can see them easily going by South Korea, but can they go through Sweden? Mexico just exposed the defense, and Sweden must be looking into how that happened. It was by mere Mexican fuckups that the score wasn't worse. Not defensive provoked mistakes, Mexico had several runs with their offense burning the midfielders on speed and outnumbering German defense almost at the goal, and they just fucked up at the end. If they pass, then they have to face off against Brazil, which was supposed to be Mexico's path.

Mexico took good players but the line up was way different and they had missing key players and different tactics

I have three positives for Germany. First, Germany won't play Mexico the next two games. This sounds snotty but I don't mean it to be. Most of the other teams won't play aggressive football. Even if teams try, Mexico had three years to practice this style. Other teams might not have the players to play the same way. The second positive is that Germany can make a lot of adjustments to play better. Finally, Germany will likely adjust if they meet Mexico again deep in the playoffs. Hopefully, Mexico thought it through that far too because Mexico will have to adjust too.
