Learn how to crochet a traditional granny square with Merion, in this step by step video that explains each stitch as you go! This classic square uses US double crochet/UK treble stitches and chain stitches, and is a great way to use up all your leftover yarn.
Merion is using Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran with a 5 mm hook.
You can use any yarn for a granny square, but if you're making a blanket, don't forget that you might have to wash it, so make that a factor when choosing your yarn!

What if I don't want to change colour? Do I just keep going round? (You jumped to the other side of the square which was a bit confusing!) Thanks

I cannot crochet ,but l am sure l could follow this ! Do you not turn your work over to the back like some people do ,that really confuses me ,but l see it a lot ,like knit one row purl the back .l hope l make sense .

Hey! Thanks so much for your comment. It would be fun to give it a go for sure. If you are crocheting in a "round" so to speak you will not need to turn over your work (same when you knit in the round). It will be different, when you are working rows.
