How do you know the thread is size 3 yarn etc plz

It is usually written on the label,there is 3ply,4ply etc. If you check your yarn you will see they are kind of twisted together, if you loosen it,you will check the strands ,if it is 2 strands it is 2ply,if it 3 strands it is 3ply etc. Hope this helps
