So…how long now until we go back to the 80s? You know, that golden age, when we all put just one color on our lids, dabbed some cover girl two shades too light or dark on our face, and called it a night? Times were so much simpler back then. This is the makeup equivalent of having to paint a Monet EVERY morning when you’re actually more of a Picasso.

I never had hooded eyes but now I’m 63 and the last 6 months or so, my eyelids have decided they want to look “mature” now, so it looks like I have hooded eyes. The scotch tape hack had been a Godsend until I realized it was causing excess tugging on my thinning delicate eye skin. I now start with doing do my eye make-up first and apply it as usual. After I’m done, I take a single Almay Eye Make Up Remover Pad for Sensitive Eyes (which is extremely inexpensive) wrap it around my finger and gently whisk up the sides of my eyes towards my temples to remove any excess eye make up which creates a clean line while not worrying about messing up makeup I used to put on first. Next I put color corrector on and concealer under my eyes and buff it up along side that clean line made by the Almay pad which also helps to crisp up that winged eye makeup line. I then do the rest of my face makeup and finish up with a light dusting of fine banana powder under and along the side my eyes to set it for all day no fuss look. Hope this helps others who are working with mature skin or those who want to be proactive and prolong the aging look as long as you can. ❤❤❤

@mikaysmakeup just now seeing this but thx. That means a lot. I've little hope of ever getting better at this point tho. I'm 40 yrs old now, but been unable to function since I was 27. I don't even have makeup anymore. I ran outta everything one thing at a time yrs ago & never bothered to buy any more. There's no point when the only time I manage to leave my house is for Dr appts. I do actually still have a bunch of OLD makeup stuff that I bought and didn't like. For instance, concealers that ended up being too thick, or wrong color, etc that I accumulated over the yrs. My daughter has taken over all that stuff now. She's 9 & has it all broken up and mixed together and stuff. I tended to stick with products that I really liked & idk how I ended up with so much I didn't. I never thought foundation looked right on me. Basically, I mostly just stuck with loreal true match concealer for under eyes, lancome definicils liquid liner, estee lauder mascara, I can't recall what brand of long wear liner I always used, but it wasn't high end. I actually used this one blush for YRS that was actually supposed to be for black girls but the color worked great for me. Uhh.. let's see.. oh and sephora brand powder. As I said before, never got into shadows much bc of my hooded eyes. Oh yeah, but I did have this amazing victorias secret shadow I used for EVER.. it was black with a tiny golden sheen that I used to blend out the liquid liner line. Ahh, the memories. Lol they don't even sell that shadow anymore. I'm getting old

Yes,I thought the same about your eyebrows. How about a tutorial on that? If you already have one, please link it in the reply. Adding lashes would be interesting too. It didn't look as though you had lashes on, which is the purpose of putting them on properly - I would like cruelty free lashes, if you know of good ones - what do you think about the magnetic lashes ? I didn't look if you are a makeup artist or are just great at doing your eyes. If you know of a lip liner that stays on, doesn't smudge or bleed, would you comment on that too? Not only was I gifted with hoodies but with thin lips too.😉 I have tried using foundation, powder after lining and then applying lipstick, however, those techniques did not work. I think that I need a specific brand which won't do these things.Do you know of some? Thank you for also taking the time to write what makeup you are using, it's appreciated. If you could also add a cheaper option in addition to the brands that you use that would be excellent Mikay.

Great tutorial!!! I love it when I come across that rare gem of a makeup video that actually teaches a technique that I haven’t seen elsewhere - and this made the grade!!! 😊 To open up the eye, I’ve heard people recommend using a lighter shade in the middle of the mobile lid, using a glitter shade all over the mobile lid, placing a pale Pearl shade at the inner corners or tucked under the inner lower lash line. I’ve also listened to a recommendation to keep the shade on the mobile lid the same as the crease so as to not emphasize the disparity between the mobile lid and the hooded section. Your strategy is new to me - and it turned out absolutely lovely! Seeing the success you had encourages me to try your suggestions. Thanks for the tips!!!

if you have hooded eyes, the regular huge full lash falsies look horrid- I use the ones that are longer on the outer edge and cat eye shaped as this opens your eye up and doesn't make you look like a doll. A half or 3/4 lash that isn't too long works well (or cut one in half), or you can use individuals that are slightly longer than your natural lashes on the outer corner, then a few more at a slightly shorter length up to about the middle of your eye. This gives you the winged look, but it's softer and more natural and just makes it look like you have great lashes! The trick is to go as natural as possible. I only use lashes that are about 4-5mm longer than the real ones on the outer corner, and about 2.3mm towards the middle and which taper at the end like real hair. Then use mascara to blend them in to the real lashes. Individuals are fantastic, or sometimes I cut a whole lash into small pieces. Easier to apply too!
@anetaw.37422 ай бұрын
@@susannatuttapanna2010Thanks. I bought half false eyelashes and shortened them to one third but something is wrong with the shape of my eyes or I just have such taste that I don't like them on myself in any form. gluing individual ones is too much work for my lazy ass also.
@slc11612 ай бұрын
I would suggest a couple coats of lash lengthening mascara. If you can tolerate, try using false lashes that are individual. You can use these to fill in your less full areas. Looks natural instead of spider looks.

Your eye shape is practically identical to mine. Ive never been big on eyeshadow bc of my hooded eyes. Any time I use eye shadow it's only to line my lower lash line. I will use a tiny bit of black shadow on the top lash line like you did so liquid liner line isn't so harsh. I've never lined my upper eye water line. Instead I use long wear liner (in blk brown) on my lower water line. Supposedly lining your lower water line makes your eyes look smaller, so usually people say not to do it but for my eyes it looks better. I've tried better than sex mascara but didn't like it. My fav is lancome definicils and estee lauder double wear & sumptuous extreme mascaras but my lashes are short (and naturally very light in color).

@1:50, the color change is because the lighting in the room must have changed slightly, and if your camera is on auto color balance, it will try to compensate for the change. If you can change this on your camera to match the lighting you are in, you will have consistent results in video color. For example, set to indoor (3200K) when inside with incandescent light, and set to outdoor (5600K) when outdoors or near a window. When there are 2 different light sources, for example, the sun coming through a window , and an indoor light bulb, there is a mismatch of color temperatures. I love this video and you are doing great! It's a wee technicality, but it's nice to know how to prevent it.

I WISH I had time for this! Instead, I have to be happy about the rare occasions when I have time to put on mascara at all- & it’s extra exciting if I have the time to let it dry or lightly brush it with powder, so it doesn’t immediately leave a stamp just below my eyebrows (which, of course, haven’t been filled in).

I have one hooded eye like Veronica Lake, it's not super noticable, but when I try to attempt winged liner it looks crazy. I could do the liner on my left eye fine, then I was absolutely defeated when it came to my right eye.

WOW. What a difference this made. I have never worn shadow and I am in my 50s and can't stand my hoodies. I'm going to try this with a lighter colour, perhaps brown rather than black. I really like the look of two wings which are on the same eye but slightly differ in height ( one is on top of the wing which you just demonstrated). Is this possible for those of us that have hoodies? I have subscribed to your FB site. If it's possible would you kindly reply, briefly," yes" or "no", and then make a tutorial for us? Your tutorial was very good, you spoke clearly, concisely, slowly, and gave us options of other things to try. This was a great video. Thank you; Iook forward to learning more from you!

Thank you so much I’m so glad you enjoyed it and learned something! Do you mean like double wings kind of like a graphic look? I’m not sure if I understand the 2 wings. Or do you mean once coming off the bottom lash line and the top? But YES! you can do that for both! You just have to do it a little differently I appreciate you subscribing to my different platforms!!

Yes, Michaela, I mean two. 1 slightly, tastefully, higher than the second. I once saw a mature woman that had this look. It looked like she used a liquid liner and the lower wing was longer than the upper wing. I hope that makes sense and I am explaining myself well. When you have the time show us a tutorial on what you think I mean and if it's not, which I am sure it will be, I will make a comment. Thanks for replying so quickly as well ❣️ 10/10 🔥
