I'm currently making the Autumn sweater in a beautiful mustard color from your pdf. This gorgeous lacy sweater is going to be my next project. The way you wear it looks quite fitted but i personally prefer a looser fitting. I'm a size small but because of the raglan style would it work if i made one size bigger? If it's the case I will have to by the pdf.

@BrianaK Жыл бұрын
For this size you won't do the first Rounds the same as the smaller sizes because it's not necessary to make these modifications for the larger sizes. You simply do Rnd 1 & Rnd 2 then go to Rnd 3 marked for Sizes L-5x and right into that established repeat.

Can I convert this sweater and use light worsted DK instead of sport yarn? I will be making a medium but am newer to crochet and not sure how to make the conversion.
@shyanha Жыл бұрын
You can if you ensure your gauge matches hers. She's using a 4.00 mm hook, but for the DK you might normally use a 3.50. If you use a 4.00 mm with the lighter yarn you will end up with more relaxed stitches, but might get to the same gauge as her. If you use the 3.50 mm you're likely to end up with a sweater smaller than expected. To check your gauge you'll crochet a 5" swatch of single crochet (a swatch is nothing special, just a practice piece like a washcloth). Then you'll measure the inner 4" to check your gauge. In the information section she gives, "17 sts and 18 rows = 4″ by 4″ in sc" as the gauge. So, you're looking to have 17 single crochet across and 18 rows of sc within that 4". If you don't, you need to loosen or tighten your tension, lengthen or shorten your stitches, and go up or down a hook size. The beautiful thing about raglan top-down is that you can try it on as you go. That means if you have an oops, you'll catch it before you're too deep into the pattern. :) Sometimes you can even just go up one size in the pattern, but not always. For example, armholes for larger people are sometimes placed differently (one designer said larger people tend to have broader shoulders, so she makes her tops wider along the shoulder line). Don't let all that frighten you, though! Worst case you get a similar yarn and use your DK for something else (maybe this pattern after you've made it once).
@lhojo118 Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your reply! I really appreciate all the details, and yes, you are right. Worst case scenario is I save the DK for another project.

Whenever I crochet a top down sweater I find when I am wearing it, the front tend to push on my neck towards the back, that is because we need to have more rows at the back than the front, have you got a solution for that,as I love the sweater but don’t want to have this problem. Thanks.
@BrianaK Жыл бұрын
When a crochet sweater is worked in the round, it's harder to do this because it needs short rows, and in crochet the wrong side of the fabric would show. One solution is to make the neckline a little bit wider by starting with a wider collar and skipping the first few rows of the pattern instructions.

Did I miss something in your written pattern? I noticed you changed round 1 established lace sleeve stitch. On your written pattern it has: SSC 1, BLO SC 1, SSC 4, SKIP 1, SSC 1, CH 3, BLO SC 1, CH 3, SSC 1, SKIP 1, SSC 4, BLO SC 1, SSC 1. That only works for initial round 1. You then changed round 1 in your video for the second time around, which fits the round 5. The orginal round 1 didn't fit. I wrote down the instructions as you went along in the video, which is: SSC 1, BLO SC 1, SSC 1, SC INTO PREVIOUS CH-SPACE, SSC 2, SKIP 1, SSC 1, CH 3, BLO SC 1, CH 3, SSC 1, SKIP 1, SSC 2, SC IN PREVIOUS CH-SPACE, SSC 1, BLO SC 1, SSC 1 to finish off round. If it's written elsewhere, could you let me know? I'm not sure how I missed it and wonder if anyone else had a problem. I'm on row 21 now and it's turning out beautifully! Thank you!
@andreabolton873 Жыл бұрын
I have found it to be the same as you. I just keep shaking my head and gritting my teeth as I try to figure out the correct string of stiches in the lace portion. Sighs and some bit of lol... 😮
@katdunn7934 Жыл бұрын
@@andreabolton873 I'm glad I didn't miss something, thanks for letting me know it wasn't just me. I ended up writing on the printed pattern, only use rnd 1 for first time, then for the rest use the rnd 1 ** at bottom of page which I wrote on. I may make this sweater again in a different color and shorter sleeves. I'm looking to make this a 3/4 sleeve. So far I am on the 7th round of the body after splitting. I'm anxious to get it completed. Hope yours is coming along nicely as well, despite the hiccup in the pattern. I hope she corrects it for future customers who buy the pattern.
@BrianaK Жыл бұрын
Hey there, thank you for your feedback. To clarify the above comments, it's still saying the same thing. It's not a change in actual instruction, just in the wording. The only difference is writing out to sc in the chain space, which I also say in the video to reinforce what I'm doing with the stitches, but it's not indicating to do anything different from the written pattern. The pattern says ssc 4, which can also be worded as ssc 1, ssc 1 in chain space, ssc 2, and the end result would be the same, it's still working the next 4 sts as ssc. We still want to be working those sts in the chain spaces as ssc (pulling them up highter) so we can easily work into them on the next round. I will consider this style/preference in wording in the future. Thank you for your comment.
@katdunn7934 Жыл бұрын
@BrianaK thanks for the explanation. I guess it's just different for me when following the written pattern, easy to miss the connection of the chain 3 counting as a stitch when going along. I liked how you did the video and said what stitches to do. I was lost otherwise and so thankful for the video tutorial.
@Ninjakittymeow3 Жыл бұрын
Oops just posted asking the same question as it was confusing to me as well, since you're not actually Ssc4 when you're sc in one of those stitches in the 3ch sp. Thanks for writing the instructions in this post, i will copy it😊
