I Love this hat, I just made two to send to my husband who is deployed. He loves the look of them! I had to make them in a boring taupe color, I will be making some cute ones for myself and my kids! Thanks!

Thank you for correcting my misconceptions about crocheting hats. In the past, all my crochet hats were too big and I decided that I didn’t like them. Now, I think this was a problem with the patterns. Usually patterns start like yours, but with single crochet. So the hat is too wide at the top and then naturally too long. I noticed you hats always seem to fit so nicely. Anyway, I’ve been trying them and it’s been working!!! I think the double crochet and generally keeping it to 60 stitches is the reason. Thanks. I’m going to try more.

Just made this in a ruby red for my sister and it looks awesome. It was so easy and such a lovely pattern. I put a tiny shell edging on it to make it more feminine for her and so her husband won’t take it. I guess that’s a good excuse to make another for him. They live in the northeast and will use all the hats/scarves I can send to them. The more the merrier. I’ll find any excuse to crochet something! I can’t get enough of Crystal’s patterns. They are practical, fun, and easy to make!

I could not crochet for about 2 years. I have 2 kinds of arthritis and severe nerve damage that affected my hands. Then I found crochet books I could use. They are put out by Susan Bates. They have bamboo handles, makes them larger and they warm up quickly. So I can now crochet comfortably. I thought you might want to know about them in case anyone ever asks about that subject. Just finished a ripple Afghan and it came out real well.Love your shopping and building videos.

Love this hat - adding it to my list! I have found also that not all 4 weight yarns are the same. I made two hats (your patterns) same hook both requiring 4 weight and got two different sizes. One was Carol one pound yarn and the other was red heart with love metallic. Watching you unbox yarn and go over what you classify it as has helped me a lot. I didn't realize they could be classified same yet so different or thin. Thanks for all your great tutorials!
