I have been watching videos on KZbin as I taught myself how to crochet many years ago and you are my favorite teacher! I've never made a baby cardigan or hat but I'm soon to be a great grandma so am going to attempt them to send off to Florida. (We lived there 16 years and moved back to Illinois 8 years ago), I don't like winter!! God bless you for sharing

Made the cardigan and the hat - so cute! Really pleased with this first outfit for my first grandchild. V useful to follow this tutorial alongside the free pattern. I have never crocheted actual garments before and have not had the confidence to read a pattern. However, now that I have followed along with Mikey, I think I could give it a go alone!

Thank God you have an accompanying video! I was making the hat and the written pattern doesn't specify you're supposed to measure from the top of hat down. I thought it was across and thought I messed up because the circle wasn't even hat shaped yet!

Thanks Mikey. I haven't crocheted in a long time. A few times in the video I couldn't see exactly what you were doing but overall I learned a lot and the hat came out so cute. I did leave off the last row on the ears tho.

Wish you'd shown how to measure properly. This is my first time doing a pattern where the end is a measurement instead of a count, I dunno if I'm supposed to measure the edge, straight down, or if it even matters.

@FindingsolaceinnatureYT7 жыл бұрын
Hi! I'm following the pattern exactly and I'm even using an H hook(8mm) and size 4 yarn. I'm doing the 6-12 month old pattern for the hat and it doesn't look anywhere near long enough. I've added more rows to make it roughly 6 inches. Is 5 inches really long enough to cover a 12 month old?

Can u recommend an alternate yarn, is caron simply soft okay to use, also at what measurement in inches do we stop increasing as I have followed the pattern exact and I get to only 4" but thought the size for newborn to stop increasing at was 5", would apprdciate a response
@Miranda091919806 жыл бұрын
I like Mikey, though, sometimes I wish I could see which place the hook is going in ending/beginning rounds. My problem is the pattern. I followed the video AND redid it from pattern only and not only does this seem too small, but the holes from the slip stitches are unseemly. Why not make a constant? I'm really annoyed since I used expensive yarn to make this and now I probably won't even use it. What a waste. Not Mikey's/Crochet Crowd's fault, just the pattern sucking.

Don't know if I'm right or not but it seems to me that this hat wouldn't stay on a baby's head longer than a couple of minutes.

It is probably because you are using a different yarn and a different hook. Also who is doing it in the tutorial has a very loose stitch, that changes the size of the hat. I repeated one or two round of increasing to get to the size I wanted.
@loriegonta36226 жыл бұрын
same here, i am using the baby yarn to match the sweater and it doesn't look like it will fit even a doll
@cassandramorrisett15765 жыл бұрын
This personally didn’t feel like the easiest tutorial to follow along with. It would’ve been nice to have a stitch count at the end of each row to help keep us on track with him. Slip stitches always mix me up, my fault, not theirs. I didn’t finish the hat. I might consider following the ear portion of this tutorial for other projects, and doing a different one for the actual hat.

I'm having trouble starting the ears. The numbers don't add up for me. You say chain 5 then sc in second stitch sc in next 2 then you say it's the last Ch to SC 3 into but I have one more ch. What am I going wrong? Please help if you can. Thank you so much I love your videos they have helped me learn so much. 😀
@nicholewojtanowski436 жыл бұрын
I know this was asked a month ago or more but I didn't see any reply to you so, in case you didn't figure it out or get other help, I thought I may be able to assist. the pattern laid out would be: Chain 5, Skip 1which is the 1st Chain, Single Crochet in the 2nd chain, Single Crochet in the 3rd chain, Single Crochet in the 4th chain, and finally, 3 Single Crochets all in the final/5th chain. If you have any chains left, you may be chaining one too many by accident or it could be that you aren't skipping the loop that is on the hook as well as the one after that(the first complete loop)? That would be the only way I could figure to explain the issue. I hope it helps!

Grrr, Mikey! Disappointed in this. I've been doing your patterns for ages and this one is too fast and the sound thing has got to go. It's like a race and it does nothing but make you talk faster and crochet faster. I could follow the pattern, but, I've also been crocheting for 57 years...BUTTTT, it's too fast for newer crocheters.
