If I'm using cotton yarn but still with an 8 inch ring. Do I have to put an additional 20 stitches or so?

Hoping you have a speedy recovery from everything. So sorry I did want to leave my comments on your tutorial though. It is very riddled with problems. Even for an experienced crochet teacher.

I am a very unexperienced crocheter and really enjoyed this project. I went back multiple times but did not end up with the same number of baubles in my rows. I just decided to make sure the stitches beginning and ending the rows were the same. I am very happy with the final product. So very sorry about your loss due to the hurricane!
