I have a question. I knit and chrochet, and have maybe a tad OCD because otherwise probably wouldn't have noticed. When doing this type cast on, does it matter which way you yarn over in the crochet part? I've never tried this type of temporary cast on and it looks really fast and easy. As I'm sure you know, in knitting, the direction of travel for the working yarn is crucial to having a stitch look like you want. So this is just embedded into the knitting brain. I crochet, very occasionally, and I noticed you yarn over in different directions with crochet CO. If it doesn't matter when taking it out, that would be great for 2 reasons. 1. Rheumatoid arthritis makes some motions painful and this would be great being able to choose comfortable direction. 2. I'm trying to teach my granddaughters to knit. They can chrochet some, so I think it would be nice if they learn this and can be relaxed knowing they just have to always go under the knitting needle for the next stitch, but the crochet part is temporary. I hope this makes sense and doesn't just have a chatty old lady vibe. I want to show them this because it will look like magic and make me look like "All Knowing Granny", which of course I am.😉 This is pure chatty old lady. I highly recommend anyone wanting to learn to knit , chrochet first, even if not for a long time because you can master using your both hands to do seperate things while grappling (and that what it feels like those first few attempts😉) with one needle. Plus you learn to control yarn tension without trying to manuever a needle in the yarn hand as well. Even if you only take enough time to learn to make a decent single crochet. The hook you will use in later knitting because EVERYONE drops stitches and for this great cast on. When you decide to do knitting that requires yarn in both hands, you'll have no problem. This concludes my comment. It only felt endless. Thank you for the new technique.
