Thank you so much for this tutorial! I've been working hard to further my skills in crochet, and this shrug is perfect for my very first full garment project (as opposed to accessories such as hats, cowls, gloves, etc.). I appreciate that you use simple stiches in this project, as that makes it possible for someone like me who is only confident so far with a few basic stitches. The moss stitch is new for me, but you showed it here very clearly. It's a beautiful shrug! And this project even uses my favorite yarn, Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick. Well, I tried it with two strands of Aran and it worked out OK, but the border looked OK, but didn't fit very well, it kind of bunched up at the back and wasn't wide enough at front, but I now have a very handy thick square blanket as I unpicked it. I am still deciding whether to try a different border. Good luck everyone🤞
@CrazyCoolCrochet4 жыл бұрын
@@sandragriffiths9692 I'm so sorry for your frustration. Please understand that once a major piece of the pattern is changed (example: yarn used) there is a good chance the outcome will be skewed. And of course tension makes a huge difference. If you use a different tension than I used, that will also affect the end product. It should be possible to make adjustments and try again. Hopefully it still can be salvaged. Thank you for checking back.

I'm happy you like this and want to make it with your own adjustments. Since I did not make this with aran yarn I cannot give you a hook size. You should however, start with a foundation chain in an even number.

@sandylosacco21944 жыл бұрын
Luv this. If I want to use yarn that says to use a size 8 hook will the starting chain still be 82 for small?
@CrazyCoolCrochet4 жыл бұрын
Do you mean an 8 as in 8mm or an 8 as in an H? If an H then you would need to adjust the starting chain quite a lot, but I can't tell you how many chains because that hook is WAY smaller than I used. If you mean an 8 mm then you can work with a looser tension and/or just add maybe 4 chains to the foundation chain. Not sure this is helpful. It is best to use the suggest size hook. Thanks for watching!

Would you say that a small would fit a 5ft 2inch tall woman who measure between a 34-36 inch chest? I started crocheting a Medium size strip then wrapped around the widest part of my chest and both right and left edges of the crocheted strip just about touch each other right in the middle of the chest. Does this mean I’m crocheting overly loose or just not my size? By the way, I’m pretty much a beginner at crochet so I’m just not sure how to determine what size to go with in order to fit properly. I love your shrug, it’s beautiful!
@CrazyCoolCrochet2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words. It does sound like your panel is going to be too large. I would stay with the size small instructions. Stay with the tension and hook size you are using and that should be a better fit.

@CrazyCoolCrochet2 жыл бұрын
You can make the arm longer by using a longer foundation chain in an even number. That will increase the overall width as well. Look in the white space below the video, the "description area" for suggested numbers. And/or you can make the arm hole border longer. Add more rows to do that.
