I think the swirl stitching makes it look crooked so if I end each round would I chain 1 to start the next round of

for half double crochet, if you want to end the round. slip stitch into the last stitch and just chain one to start the next row. I would put a stitch marker in the first stitch of every round to make sure you connect to the stitch and not the chain if you are first starting out or have trouble reading the different parts of a stitch. :D

Using a stitch marker helps me visually, so I don't have to count my stitches (makes projects more mindless). Not necessary though if you don't find it useful! Happy crocheting to you!

I've never touched a coffee cup, but I was asked to make one of these. I followed your instructions exactly. Is it supposed to be big enough that you can slide it over your wrist and all the way up to your shoulder? It's bigger than my large mcdonalds cup sitting on my desk!

Hi Sammi! Hmm... it sounds like you might be adding stitches to your round. Each round should have the same amount of stitches. You should end up having 26 stitches each round.
