I think that this is one of the nicer looking styrofoam tree designs. If you're like me and detest foam, you could probably just make cones out of cardboard cartons, which is what I plan to do. I think if it's covered in felt, the crocheted rounds should stay put well enough.

@@Girlybunches No worries; I didn't really expect a reply on a ten year old video! I spent ten years working at a sewing/craft chain and always looked for the cheapest/most sustainable way to do crafts since I got asked for that by customers a lot. Styrofoam and other foam products are made from fossil fuels and get more expensive all the time while cardboard cartons are paper and pretty much free and I'm all about that! Pizza boxes rock!

Made a tall cone from poster board and completed 4 layers of the crocodile stitching with three different shades of green. absolutely loving it. THANK YOU, THANK YOU AND THANK YOU!!!

Great video, thank you for sharing your talent. It took three tries before I got the hang of how to turn and work the 2nd post. Working out the math on the petals was very helpful. The only thing I had trouble was with the first base row. I made way too many petals for the base, I made 12 only needed 7. However, working up so many gave me a chance to practice. Once I got it, it went very fast.😃

Your kidding, this is the worst crochet vid I have ever seen, I'm 7 mins in and she has not even started crocheting! she is still waffling, Ive never heard such waffle, I fast forwarded and watched segments and she is still waffling, I wanted to crochet a Christmas tree, Im not remotely interested in her neighbours and their building work, or any of the other repetitive rubbish. I'm sitting here with my polystyrene cone ready to get started, but I think 19 minutes of this and I might be in the mood to smash something!

I love this video and am attempting to make this tree. I don't see how to make the top of it. Do you show it or did I miss it. What do you do for the final or top tree----not the round topper. Thanks so much.
@Girlybunches10 жыл бұрын
Hi Pat Mugler Thank you! :D You just keep going until you reach the top, my tree had only two leaves on the top, so it can get a bit fiddly, I made the round topper to finish it off. I hope it helps.

Is there a way to make it 5 foot tall with a stitch that looks like tree branches??? I have a allergy to the real tree, so I have always had a fake tree and I would love to have one could keep up all year and decorate for each month... LOL 😂 I think it would be cute..

Hi Debbie, follow the instructions at the start with the number of stitches, and just keep making as many rounds as you need to complete your cone size.

Do you write out how to calculate the number of crocodile stitches for the lowest with of one's cone size choice? I want to make a tall styro-foam tree. I have been stopping the video and snapping pics of your closed captions. Guess one has to assemble your words to send to one's email and printer.

@Girlybunches9 жыл бұрын
Hi +Caroline Bomford , thank you so much... sadly no, mainly because of the reasons I give at the begning about not knowing what yarn you will be using and what size cone you will be able to get hold of. If you follow the principles I've given you'd be able to make the same I am sure. If I can do it.. anyone can. Europeans use the word Treble for the American word Double when talking about crochet stitches.
