I am wondering if you realize that rhe wrong side of the scales are on the top side of your work which means that the right side of the scales which should be on the top are hidden. Other than that the video had an excellent angle and great volume.

You are the first people I have ever seen that hold their hook the way I do. The women at my knitting/ crochet group thought I held my hook funny. Also, I taught one of my friends to crochet holding their hook this way and they said it helps with their carpal tunnel. :)

OMG! I can't believe I did it! I'm a beginner left-handed crocheter and when a friend of mine posted this to her FB page, I thought it looked so cool but thought I couldn't handle it. I did it!!! Had I read this in a pattern only (I have a baby pattern) I would have thought it was impossible but your tutorial makes it easy to understand and follow, however I must say, I didn't find the need to "turn" my work as that complicated things for me. I think the sample in the video is wide enough for a scarf but if you want to make it wider you could just add some stitches to it by groups of six until its the size you want .... cathy @ the crochet crowd helpdesk :)

Probably the best video tutorial I have watched on crocheting crocodile stitches! Seems really easy to follow but I haven't watched while I am following with my own crochet hook and yarn, so we'll see how it goes, when I'm able to do that! Okay, this looks so much easier than other tutorials and now I'm mad I didn't see this one before ruining the purse I'm working on! I like the way you do you posts instead of having a single post between double posts. DORAMARIE I am also left handed and I admit it's harder when all the videos are in the right hand version but if you just follow what he says and watch then it's not really too much of a problem! You just have to think in reverse! Right handed paper patterns are much harder to contend with! If I wasn't so shy at talking on video I would defo do a left handed video for you! I've crocheted for several years and I have always figured out a pattern, I just had to stay with it or sometimes put it down and come back later. Eventually I was successful. I love crochet and it should not be a chore it should be fun and relaxing. So, I've started to ignore some of the new or what appeared to be more difficult stitches. Mikey you are the best teacher!!!! I struggle so with placement of hook and not being sure if I am getting it right..... I've worked with Amazing before and know it is NOT easy to frog... so I was apprehensive about starting with this yarn but after 3 or 4 attempts and having to carefully rip back what I had done: I GOT IT!!!! The most difficult part is to remember the sequence. It is a beautiful stitch and you are a great teacher. You stay on track. The downside of the stitch is that any pattern will require a lot of yarn. Thanks for the tutorial.

In UK your double crochet is actually a treble. I must make a note of that as American patterns always confuse me. This is a good visual guide, thanks. A nice new stitch to learn. I also note that when completing the treble you wrap the stitch round backward to the way I do it. I must try that and see if it produces a different effect. I am planning to use this for the collar and cuffs on a jumper. It would be a great way of vamping an old jumper or blouse too to give it a new lease of life.

Thank you for explaining this so clearly. I have only been crocheting for 24 days (wow time flies) just watched your video and I'm sure by the time I actually get around to trying this stitch it will come out amazing. ( I watch videos while I'm working on other projects then go back and, for the most part, recreate it from memory.) Groups of 6, pairs of double crochets chain 2 skip 2, 5 down 5 up chaining 1 between each, skipping every other pair of double crochets. always end on scale side.(few steps left out I'm sure) Thank you again for explaining this clearly.

When you get around to making this you will need to work you chain in multiples of 6 + 1 , then chain three. You need the extra chain because if not you will end up with 2 chains at the end of the first row of scales and not 3 like Mikey has.

I stuck with it and just adjusted the scarf so that i was going in the right direction each time. it was a little awkward to get used to but i am almost finished with it and it turn out just as good. keep going with it and ssee how it does!
