I was asked by my daughter to make these and give them (free, of course), to anyone wearing a mask that has the elastic around their ears. Well, this past Thursday, I made 3 in less than 30 minutes. I dug out some buttons I had and within fifteen minutes all 3 were completed. I have since made about 50 of them. My roommate goes to dialysis 3 days a week and I make sure he has one and I also have him take a bag full of them with him to giveaway to other patients, doctors that stop in, the nurses that work there and for anyone else that wants one. These are a perfect way for myself to not only get thru my cotton yarn stash but to also help the community and anyone else who needs them. I also gave my daughter a bag of finished ones today to give out down where she lives.

FAQ - Useful Information Buttons i suggest are 18-23mm and using cotton aran or dk yarn with a 3.5mm hook. Approx size when made using a chain of 15 is 9cm, but i am making some with 15, 16 & 17 chains which will adjust the length. Uf you find that dk is twisting then i have adapted the pattern and made a round of slip stitches after round 2, and it seems to make the adapter more rigid and twist less. Hope this helps x

I just went through researching a needle big enough to get yarn through but small enough to get through button holes. I found that a Tapestry Needle size 16 worked for me! Picked up a range of them (just to be sure) of sizes 16, 18, 20, and 22. The bigger the number the smaller the eye hole. At Michaels its Loops and Threads for the brand name of this multipack.

You can use any weight cotton yarn. But yes with Dk the adapter will be slightly smaller than if using aran weight. I have been putting a round of slip stitches after round 2 so that it makes the adapter slightly larger but also stops it curling. x
