Ya le entendí.. Yo empecé con 60 cadenas. De la fila 1 a la 10 un punto en cada punto.. Fila 11.. 8 puntos (alternando punto bajo y punto alto)una disminución de punto bajo y punto alto juntos. Fila 12 sin disminuir.. un punto en cada punto. Fila 13.. 7 puntos (punto alto y punto bajo) una disminución de puntos altos juntos. Fila 14 sin disminuir Fila 15.. 6 puntos (puntos altos y punto bajo) una disminución de punto bajo y punto alto juntos. Fila 16 sin disminuir. Fila 17.. 5 puntos ( puntos altos y puntos bajos) una disminución de dos puntos altos juntos. Fila 18 sin disminuir. Fila 19.. 4 puntos (puntos altos y puntos bajos) una disminución de punto bajo y punto alto juntos. Fila 20 sin disminuir. Fila 21.. 3 puntos (puntos altos y puntos bajos) una disminución de puntos altos juntos. Fila 22 sin disminuir. Fila 23.. 2 puntos (alto y bajo)una disminución de punto bajo y punto alto juntos. Do you have any suggestions for someone who is using a worsted weight yarn? I really don't want to use a smaller weight because the color I want to use is in the worsted. When I chain 100 it seems a little big so are there any multiples chain wise that I should keep in mind?

Hi! The pattern is not made-to-measure. So I didn’t really note that down. From what I can remember, a multiple of 10 should work. Only for the last few rows, you’ll be left with different numbers of stitches, you’ll need to adjust the decrease pattern. But a multiple of 10 should work for the most part of the hat. I got a little confused during the decreases also. At row 13 you're supposed to end on a decrease, but I can't seem to make it work.

I just watched that part and yes, a dc2tog should be worked over the last 2 sts of row 13. Row 12 should have 90 sts so it should work cuz row 13 decrease pattern repeats every 9 sts.

If you made 100 stitches or any amount of stitches divisible by 10 you should end on a decrease. You make 8 regular stitches then join 2 together to make a decrease. Then row 12 there’s no decrease, and row 13 its 7 regular stitches then you join 2 together to make a decrease.

What are some yarn substitutes? Would red heart soft work? Is you yarn true 3 or could I use a 4 worsted weight?

I do believe my yarn is weight 3, not 4 although it doesn't say that on the label. I think red heart soft with a 5.5 mm hook or weight 4 yarn would be big. If you've purchased the pattern, I can help you personally on Etsy with how to adjust the size.

Just do the usual crochet stitch (alternating single and double) but you need to make a single crochet stitch on the decrease stitch that you made in row 11

It also depends on the yarn you’re using and your crochet tension. I crochet way more loosely than she does and my yarn is thicker so if I followed her pattern exactly it would be too big for my head. I recommend you measure it around your head after the first row to make sure it fits you and just make the amount of stitches to fit your head instead of the 100, I for example only did 54.

If you made 100 stitches or any number of stitches divisible by 10 you should’ve ended row 11 with a decrease. It was 8 regular stitches then 2 together to make a decrease. Row 12 is just a regular row no decrease. I think why everyone is confused is because you no longer follow the single crochet double crochet pattern, all you have to do is look at the stitch from the previous row where you’re working your new stitch, if its a single crochet then work a double crochet into it and vice versa, if its a decrease stitch then look at it and make an educated guess, if it looks like a double crochet then add a single crochet into it. The wording might be confusing for beginners but the pattern itself is not hard.

I myself have been tinkering with the pattern to make a hat that fits my head, I have made and unmade the hat more than 10 times trying to find the right amount of stitches to fit me. I ended up with 54 stitches instead of 100 and only 6 rows of regular stitches before decrease instead of 10. I also did 4 decrease rows instead of 8. It all depends on the yarn you’re using and how thick it is, and your crochet tension because mine is way looser than hers so if i do 100 it will be a baby blanket.

also-- for the ribbing part, my stitches from when i casted on were SO tight i had to pick it up in the stitch above instead so it has a pronounced divot and curls over on the ends instead of laying flat like hers 😭 but if you wanna chat over dm's i can try to walk you thru the part you're having troubles with! sometimes that's easier than following a video or pattern 😅
