Just made this for my neighbor, whose baby is due in January. It's so easy and quick and absolutely adorable! Thanks for posting the tutorial!

Tiffany, if you will make 2 sc in each stitch of the chain of your fringe you will have a very curly fringe - i have made pompoms like this for years - very easy and very cute

Oh I like that idea. I’m struggling with the half double crochet slip stitch. Thank you!

This is a beautiful -- yet simple! -- baby hat! I like your ribbed hat for a patterned or fuzzy yarn, and this is my new fav *for nice, solid yarns! I absolutely love the simple "patterned" stitch (AND the crown of the cap itself makes it well-fitting!). Thank you! I just found it!🤭

Such a cute hat! I am so glad that you and Cyndi collaborated and are now sharing the pattern with us. Hopefully you will also share the "open" version that Cyndi was sharing, I think you called it the mesh hat. I love how the top of the hat uses the chains to make an open, webbed-looking top. I am sure it will be another very fun and cool hat. Thank you again!

I just made this using a lamb and cotton blend #2 fine weight yarn and it came out excellent! I followed your length guidelines (7 inches long (not counting the ch 13 fringe) x 12 inches wide and followed the video instructions all the way through. Thank you! This really is a cute hat! I had a 1.76 oz/50 gram (251 yds/230m) ball of Queensland Collection United yarn (55% lambswool, 45% cotton). I used crochet hook size E. Used up plenty of the 1 ball, but would estimate I could have easy gone another size or two larger.

I chose fuzzy yarn. I found it helpful to mark the first of the five slip stitches on the way up the hat, then switch the marker to the last of the five slip stitches on the way down. Otherwise I kept adding a stitch on each row.

PS - For anyone having a hard time with the slip stitch on the tassels, try turning the hook away from you instead of toward you when you pull through the 3 loops.

@@mariannenelson So glad it's helping you! It's the way Jayda In Stitches always turns her hook and it just happens to work brilliantly for this stitch. I made a baby blanket using the HDCSS and never could have gotten through it without this method!
