Sad you can only do 15min, I have seen other channels that can do 1hr, all these lessons have been great. I have watched many granny square lessons and for some reason yours has finally made it click. I think the thing that you "do different" is what really made it click. Thanks so much for these. Your speed is also impressive.

I am so glad I looked this up. 11 years! You look so dapper. This is the way I always wanted to make a granny square, but nobody ever did it this way. There was only always two in the holes between corners and I never heard of the crochet one on the runway before the middle holes and to the corners! Thank you so much for keeping these older videos on here, Mikey!!

I enjoy these tutorials. He’s pretty thorough and provides many tips with explanations, and I don’t have to pause the video too often as a result. He’s also very mellow and patient. Personally, I’m used to knitting, so crocheting is not really crossing over but more of a foreign language altogether.. Fascinating!

yes...pay attention to how your attaching your yarns as you go, if your not attaching it correctly this could be why its falling apart...also watch where your casting off/tying knots this could be coming undone too if not done securely enough.Mikey has a video on youtube called "how to attach yarn without knots" that may help with attaching yarn and if you have to secure your knots a few times at the end of your rows then double knot them to make sure they are secure Cathy@The Crochet Crowd :)

I have always been interested in crochet but with books that I have purchased in the past I haven't been able to even come close to learning anything. I have started doing a different type of granny, I call it the Closed in or Textured Granny. I make the first 3 or 4 rows like a normal granny. After that I do corners as normal but drip the center stitch of each group down into the row below by using an elongated DC. This pulls fills in the wholes between and textures the afghan. Then I do a few rows now and then in a normal granny stitch to maintain the look of the granny. Give it a try and tell me what you think. jcg1224

@jcg122413 жыл бұрын
Whoops, That is I DROP down, not drip down the center stitch of each group of stitches. This pulls in and fills the gaps to make a warmer afghan.It also gives a nice texture to the afghan. Sorry for the type O. jcg1224

I have loved every tutorial you have done so far and learned so much. But this one is so rushed I cant keep up and mine ends up looking nothing like the screen, no matter how many times I tried. Now it has turned from fun to frustration
@elphe447 жыл бұрын
Same for me. I have no problem with the double crochet. What I'm having trouble with is the number of double crochet between each corner (they seem to go from 1 to 2 to 3. And also which loop to grab when joining the two parts. I goes way too fast, it's a nightmare. I am a complete beginner and I only learned from here up to now. And I don't know how to add a new color either so I'm not sure I'me including the loose string correctly. I fear that i'm going to have to go explore other videos to see if I can figure it out. And why do they have a time line of 15 minutes?? Why can't they slow down? Is it a tutorial or what?
@donnaawesomed650511 жыл бұрын
I am using multiple colors...same 5 gage needle...mostly the 3rd row comes apart..any suggestions..

Goes a bit fast, for some reason I ended up with an extra tab of stitches at the beginning of my square. Hard to tell what's going on when I first start out. Will just keep practicing until I get it right! Thanks for the vids!

I enjoy crocheting granny squares but I have a problem where the center of my granny square always looks cocked to the right after I've done a few rounds. The outer rounds look squared off but the center is not. It's hard to explain but the center is twisted looking to the right. I am right handed. I make my granny squares exactly like this video. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Can you help me?

My square ends up folding up on its self... Why is that?
@lindseyrae49909 жыл бұрын
I had this problem too. I found it was because I wasn't double crocheting back into the same gap at the corners. That's the 3-2-3 method he mentions. Three double crochets, followed by 2 chain stitches, and then 3 double crochets into the SAME gap at each corner.
@sarahbarton49776 жыл бұрын
Why do some people do three chain on the corner instead of two ??
@TheCrochetCrowd6 жыл бұрын
Ch 3 makes the corners looser... Ch 2 tightens them up. It's pretty much your choice.
