Hello 👋 my name is Sara welcome to my channel Crochet for Baby. In today's tutorial I will show you how to crochet this easy poncho with hoodie for girls. The poncho or cape that I crochet in the tutorial is for girls from 3-5 years. You can also make this hooded cape bigger for girls from 6-8 years by changing your yarn to a medium #4 and a 5mm crochet hook.
For this crochet toddler poncho tutorial i used James C. Brett yarn (link above) but you can also use lion brand baby soft yarn which is a light #3 baby yarn. I used about 150g. You may need less or more depending how long or how big you make yours.

@@CrochetForBaby I figured that out , 4 my niece who's almost 6. I actually used a 5 mm and doubled just the neck part and so far so good , maybe make it a little longer too. Ill let u know what happens. Been playing with it myself and putting this one to a pdf also. I will figure out the chains for the teenager size for you, this is what i am working on right now. Yes I would use that hook to make it slightly bigger although my little model in the video is 3.5 years and fits perfect. If she’s only 2 then I think this will be fine with the 3.5mm hook.

You changed your crochet hooks (pink, green n black) can you plz mention their sizes.

If I don’t mention that I changed to a different hook size then it’s the same size from when we start no matter what color you see me using. I have lots of hooks in many colors and I work the project within a couple of days. I also have kids that take them to play so if I can’t find the original I just get another one in the same size. I ALWAYS tell you when and if to change to a different hook.

Me again, yes , quick question, I've been working on pdfs for you, had to stop to make a few shower gifts but now I am back working on stuff for violet, anyways question is when I write out the directions not sure what to call the stitch front post , dc ch 1 , frt post etc u get it, isn't that a marshmallow stitch ? It should not be curling. Maybe use a slightly bigger hook to help with your tension.
