I’m posting another comment to say that I wore that scarf today and so many people LOVED it. I’ve been asked to make several. They even want to pay me for them. Crochet isn’t really lucrative, the time it takes and the cost of certain materials drastically outweighs the project, but heck, I love to do it and I love making people happy. So, thank you so very much for posting this pattern. I’m a subscriber for life.

I made this with self striping yarn. Great! I used 6mm hook with 3 weight yarn. Needed less than the 590 yd cake. I also crocheted in the back loop only which made nice ridges. Very nice scarf and your hood can be attached to any shawl.

Omg. I made this with 5.5 grey and black with a border. I went with 70 chains for the scarf and it came out GORGEOUS!! it was stiff but I washed it and threw it in the dryer. So soft!!!!! Thank you for this simple but classy pattern!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤

this was really quick to work up and i had fun making it! i have gotten lots of compliments already. it’s obviously not going to be a super warm hood because of the gaps between stitches, but it looks great and i love wearing it as an extra layer under my parka hood with the tails tied to keep my neck warm. thanks for sharing this ❤

I love this pattern! Thank you for making it free! I’ve been wanting to make a scoodie but had trouble finding a pattern that wasn’t pointy. I liked this pattern I used the same brand/type of yarn you did, just with a 6.5MM hook (my tension must be super loose because it looks as big as yours with the 8mm) and I added 2 chains to the beginning since my head is a little bigger than yours and then I added some length to the scarf part. I love it so much! Also worked up quick! Thanks again!

You forgot to show us where/how to reattach the cream yarn after cutting it when starting the shawl part. Otherwise its a great tutorial. I found out I cannot make a pretty foundation chain so I cheated. I made a chain then dc’d in it, hiding the yarn ends of the chain in the next row. Looks better and matches the first side that way. Pretty hooded scarf! Thank you so very much for this tutorial!!

Thank you!! And it’s the same as changing colors as the end of row 2, so I didn’t think I needed to show it again but I should’ve mentioned that

Any advice on how to make the bottom edge of the hooded part more straight? It’s a bit wavy at the bottom. I am using 1 color.
@VivCrochets13 күн бұрын
You can search up the different methods for straight edges in crochet. I don’t use any, so I’m not sure which is best! Or, you can do an outline of single crochet

Would the scarf become warmer if I used half double crochet instead of double crochet. Because half double crochet makes tighter patterns?
@VivCrochetsАй бұрын
You can still do double crochets, but use a smaller hook! Doing half double crochets will change the shape of the hood

I really like this pattern and it’s easy to follow your tutorial but my hood is acting up and refuses to “bend”, it’s more like a plain piece of fabric. I don’t think I did anything wrong with it, could it be the yarn? (A velvet/polyester)
@susanb8354Ай бұрын
I loved your combining a chain row that has to be double crocheted into to a single row of chain and double crochet. I’ve never seen that before. I hate crocheting into a chain. Is it possible to just make that combined row and skip the long chain row?
@VivCrochetsАй бұрын
Yes! You can substitute it in as your foundation chain and first row for pretty much any pattern

I really love this pattern and I cannot wait to wear this, but I think you’re missing a golden opportunity For marketing by not doing a grouping of videos that would explain a double crochet or a color change because as an experience crocheter Hafton to listen to all of the little nitty-gritty details on how to crochet this pattern gets annoying, so I think to be able to link to that said a video to be a really good thing and then you could make this more of a medium grade crochet project and it would go a lot quicker
@VivCrochets24 күн бұрын
Thank you for the feedback and I understand your point! I do it this way because I want my tutorials to be accessible for everyone. When I was starting out, it would be hard for me to start a tutorial and jump to a new one to learn something new. It’s much easier for more experienced crocheters to just skip the video a few seconds ahead if they already know how to do the stitch. Also, most experienced crocheters can read written patterns, so I do have those linked in the description as well!
