Does the color bof the needle are the same. Like all blue needles are the same size or gold is all the same size needle

Why is the crochet needle number 5 and 8 I bought the same hook size. They were steel. Ijust found out that they're the smallest size.but i Still don't get the similar hook size

Oof. I probably should’ve watched this video before I bought my hook. Cuz I’m using a size F when the yarn is a bit thicker 😂😭🤦🏼‍♀️. I feel kinda embarrassed. I mean, it did work, but I find myself having to get my finger involved. So yeah! Guess I have to return it for a bigger size

So is the alphabet and the number 2 different sizes meaning is it this or that either the letter size or the my to go by fit a project? Trying to understand this.

Honestly, crochet hook sizes CAN be incredibly confusing. The relation of the alphabet, numbers, and mm sizes to each other can seem very arbitrary. The easiest way for me to remember it, at least in US terminology, is that the hook sizes get bigger in millimeters as I count up or go through the alphabet. So a J/10/6mm hook would be much bigger than a B/1/2mm hook, for example. A good place to start if you are working on a specific project is to check the pattern. Any written pattern that you use should recommend a yarn and hook size. And if you're working without a pattern, check your yarn label for a recommended hook size. You can then adjust up or down if they're not giving you the gauge you're looking for. I hope this helps you find the right sizes!

@@melissafrisella7204 You have to watch the hooks as well. Particularly with budget ones, the shaft can be quite a different size from what is advertised!
