I have crocheted for more than 50 years, designed for nearly 30. I've never seen anything like this. Brilliant! A significant contribution to the world of crochet. Well done!

I remember coming across this video a while back, before I was halfway decent at crocheting. Fast forward to today, where I have been struggling to crochet the i-cord using the other method (drop two loops and hold them between your fingers). I remembered this video, but for the life of me I could not remember what your method was called.. I just remembered a bunch of letters! Haha. ☺️ So happy I finally found your video again, and I will be using this to make some bracelets this summer. I have saved it and will urge others to watch it. Thanks so much for this!

Wow - what everyone else said - ingenious, fabulous - I'm wondering how you ever thought this up and sure glad you did! I bet you are a knitter since it has the similarity to the 'long tail cast on' in knitting. Thank you for following your inspiration and sharing this with the crochet world!

Brilliant!!! I've been searching I-cord tutorial videos and the all were basically the same where you had to drop two loops off the hook which is not easy to do and maintain the same tension. But your method is SO EASY and fast and it does make a fantastic foundation chain. Thank you for sharing this.

Ingenious! I thought the chainless foundation stitch was revolutionary. It looks like this has even more stretch and a cleaner look. And no need to dig out my knitting needles when I want an i-cord. I might even be able to remember what it's called. :-) Thanks for sharing!

When I first looked I wondered what on earth was going on! Then I tried it and it is JUST what I need for the neck of a crochet sock wool sweater I intend to do (well it’s faster than knitting for such a big item) i never thought I’d be able to do this stitch and i can’t wait to start. Thank you.

I absolutely love this! Saves time on having to chain, then go back and sc, especially if it's a longer/wider piece with HUNDREDS of stitches! Also love the stretch/give it has, perfect for sweaters! Thanks for sharing! :)

Should have covered these two points regarding the technique in the video so addressing them here: 1. The CLTFBC replaces the traditional (Chain Stitch/Foundation Row). Row 1 of your Crochet work would be worked back into the CLTFBC according to the pattern instructions you are following. Skip the appropriate number of stitches & work the 'Taller Stitch' you'll be using into the CLTFBC as the pattern calls for. As in the traditional sense, the skipped stitches count as the very first 'Taller Stitch'. The CLTFBC works great because it matches the thickness of the proper 'Taller Stitch' you'll be creating throughout the rest of your work. Whether they are HDC, DC, or TR. The skipped number of stitches will depend on your pattern & the 'Taller Stitch' called for. It blends better with the rest of the Crochet work in regards to thickness & stretch. Unlike the traditional (Chain Stitch/Foundation Row), that looks sparser & less stretchy. The left over long tail is woven into the Crochet work later or when the work is finished. 2. When needing to fasten off for a PCIC only: Make to desired length & then cut the Working Yarn, making sure there is about 6 inches of Working Yarn Tail & 6 inches of the 'Long Tail' allowance yarn. Pull both tails through the last loop & pull both to fasten off. Weave ends back into the PCIC to hide.

Fabulous. Thank you. It looks so much neater and avoids the tight pull of a traditional chain row. Does it mean that the tail will be on the right when 'right side facing' rather than the left?

Sure. Just account for the chains needed plus he 3 for the DC turning chain. Then just work back into it.

Can you do color changes with this technique? I've done the foundation row where you go into the loops ( where your technique has that loop forming the hook). I use the foundation row on my graphghans when I want color changes right at the beginning and don't want to try to change colors on my starting chain. Hope that makes sense.
