Great tutorial!💖💌 This was my first crochet project ever and I managed to complete it quite well with your help! I actually made one of these for my current sketchbook, to match its aesthetic and keep it safe. Maybe I'll post it with the book sleeve on Instagram some time and tag you. Thanks for taking the time to make this video! 🌷☺

My sleeve keep getting slanting like the ends keep getting wider unlike how it’s shown in the video straight
@wensheijin-11456 ай бұрын
it might be because you're decreasing it instead of going into each stitch properly
@ruethewitch5 ай бұрын
i had this same issue ! to fix it, count the chain 2 as a stitch and go into the next stitch over with a double crotchet. when you go into the same loop it ends up adding an increase !!

Make sure you aren’t accidentally adding an increase to the beginning or end of your round when joining! The easiest way to do this is to just count your stitches after each round. It could be an issue of whether you are counting the chain 2 at the beginning of each round as a stitch or not. This would affect where your first/last stitch is placed.

I wanted to make a book sleeve for a friend, but since it's a surprise gift I can't ask for measurements, and I wanted her to be able to use this for any of her books. How should I size it?
@fun_activities5 Жыл бұрын
Maybe gift her a book and use measurements from that book
@purlsandtopknots Жыл бұрын
Because this is made with double crochet they do stretch some so if you know if she typically reads paperbacks or hardcovers you can use any standard sized paperback/hardcover book and it should stretch enough to fit her books! The one I made in the video fits paperback books and I used a 4.5mm hook with size 4 medium yarn. I started with a chain of 30!

not sure if it’s too late but i’m making a sleeve for my brother and just googled the size of an average paperback (about 9inches x 6 inches)

So you only 3dc at the beginning, not every time you finish around?

Correct, the 3dc is only for the first round!

Hello! Do we know if she double crochet into the chain two stitches?
@purlsandtopknots2 ай бұрын
@@sophiewoods4709 the chain 2 at the beginning of each row? When I make it I do not count the beginning chain 2 as a stitch so I don’t DC into it but as long as you are consistent with whatever you do it should still turn out the same!

@purlsandtopknots10 ай бұрын
Of course! Just use whatever crochet hook is recommended for the yarn. I don’t use specific stitch counts in my pattern so it be used for all different sizes of books and yarn!

This is so cute! 🥰 I’ve started making one, but have had to start over several times because one side keeps expanding. I’ve tried to follow the video closely but is there something I’m missing?
@purlsandtopknots7 ай бұрын
I’m not sure why that is happening! Maybe count your stitches to make sure you aren’t adding any increases after the first round

@@purlsandtopknots after I make the chain two am I supposed to put a double crochet in that same stitch? That’s what I’ve been doing and that’s the side that keeps getting wider.🙈😬
@purlsandtopknots6 ай бұрын
I would count the chain 2 as a stitch so try putting a double crochet into the next stitch instead of the same stitch! That may solve your problem!
