Really nice and I agree about fixing mistakes. I knit, crochet and loom knit and crochet mistakes are way easier to fix than in either of the other two.

How many loops do you have on the puff stitch before you go through them

Years ago when we made these we chained one on corners. This is just looking round

I’m going to have to redo this and chain in corners. It only makes since to have the shape as the pink one.

I'm sorta new to crochet, I'm trying to make a rug with a soft velvety "yarn" and it's not showing the shape is it the material or me do u think

Courtney Pearson I'm sure it's the yarn you're using. It's not the easiest to work with. The softer yarns don't hold their shape as well as some other types. I like using Red Heart super saver yarn when trying new projects to "get to know" my pattern before trying it with a different yarn like the "fuzzy" or "velvety" types since they make it hard to see your stitches. It holds it's shape and is easy to make all kinds of crochet stitches. Also, the colors make a difference when learning to crochet, darker colors are harder to see.

I think it's most likely the yarn. I used a Red Heart Super Saver type yarn. It is a little stiff but it does help keep the shape.
