Genius! It's like a log cabin quilt. I love scraps of anything.

What a cool idea! This is called 'Log Cabin' in the quilt world, I've made many quilts in this kind of pattern. I love the idea of doing it in crochet. I do not have many scraps, but could buy whole skeins of new yarn. Thanks!

Love this idea!! Most people wouldn't think it, but single crochet will use up more yarn than longer stitches. If you wanna eat your stash, use single and half double. Yarn will go more bang for the buck on double and treble crochets, so you can adjust your stitches according to how much scrap you have of a color!! Thanks for the inspiration!! Ps: I tie my tails, too!!

If you are trying to 'square' up an uneven line, you could single stitch to the part where it indents a little, then double stitch to the end to even out the row.

Great idea! I had a similar idea 2 days ago and I started to turn all of my scraps into a blanket - but every rectangle a different size, a different stitch (crochet and knitting mixed) and another color. It will be an adventure :D

Can I do one row as single crochet and one row as half double crochet?
@theburgundybasketkristiber14945 ай бұрын
Hi. You can do whatever stitches you want as long as you keep each section squared up if that makes sense. For example, if you had 9 rows of sc and then turned to work the side it would get 9 stitches, but working in hdc you might need to add a stitch or two to keep your section square.

Should the different colour yarns all be the same weight, ie, all dk or all aran or all chunky?
@suzibee21563 жыл бұрын
It would look best with all the same weight.
@theburgundybasketkristiber14942 жыл бұрын
Yes. If you use different weights of yarn you’ll probably have thick and thin sections that are different sizes. But, what you can do if you want to use up different weights is hold a few strands together to make a new weight. So, if you have mainly #4 weight yarn, but some #3, you can hold 2 strands of #3 to make #4. This is not always true depending on your yarn, but can often work.

How can you make sure the blanket becomes a rectangle or square? ⬜
@theburgundybasketkristiber14942 жыл бұрын
You have to make sure you are working even on each side. What I do instead of making sure I have a perfect count is keep working and lay it down flat to make sure it’s flat and not going off on any angles. If for example you have 10 rows and want to work down the side of those you should have about 10 stitches.
