After watching your last video my heart went out to you... I have no idea whats been happening in your life but I just wanted to tell you how much I love and appreciate your videos on the internet.... I have been seriously ill for a couple of years and had given up trying to fight to stay alive and then someone got me a tablet and being totally computer illiterate I just stumpled onto things by accident, not really interested in anything until one night I watched one of your teaching videos....actually I watched hours of your videos...next morning I got a friend to go down to spotlight with a list and I have never looked back... my depression lifted, I was determined to start treatment up again, I got out of the house and started enjoying the beauty around me... I actually went back to work after I went into remission but best of all I learned how to crochet, I learned to use a tablet and I met people like Margaret -sheepishly sharing, Erin (I can't remember her last name, she's an amazing knitter and sells bags on Etsy) and I found you... I just wanted to say thank you because unbeknowns to you...you saved my life...we might never meet and apart from the odd post I write on your site, I just wanted to let you know how many good things I hear about you, about the wonderful things you have given to ones like me.. Don't ever think you are unappreciated, don't ever underestimate your worth, your generosity is amazing in that you give of yourself freely. I pray and I hope that everything gets easier on the road you are presently walking. (and please forgive me for anything I hsve said thats inappropriate, it was not my intention) Rosemary

Hi Jacquie Last, its funny, I went down to Spotlight this afternoon as they had a 40% off all yarn today and Clare's name was brought up, they were about 5 of us, we had never met each other before and yet we all had two things in common, crochet and BobWilson123, we all spent about an hour just talking about her site, the different things Clare has taught us....and yarns... Clare has truly been a gift to many... Hugs Rosemary

Hello Clair once again I am on you tube crocheting along with you on this gorgeous shawl. I have been meaning to thank you for the lesson, I made one for a very fussy Mother in Law and after 12 years of Christmas, birthday and mothers day gifts, this has been the first time I could see how much she loved this shawl. Now a friend has asked me to crochet one for her Mom, which I am once again crocheting along with you. I have also just finished doing your child size poncho. You are truly my crochet angel as I would not be able to do these projects if you never had this talent and such a sharing heart. I feel so lucky to have come across your You tube channel. God Bless you.

You are just awesome......And why I say that is because I never thought I could crochet ..Ever!!. But I was able to make two of your Ribbed Scarf with matching headband. They look like you bought them from the mall,gift shop, etc. I'm so proud of my work. Because If it wasn't for you there would have been know way I could of done the work. So thank you very much for teaching me, making it easy to understand,and taking your time. Now, I'm just making anything I think I can do for now ,learning something new all the time. So again ..Thank you . Judy Please don't go any where & keep it coming ....:)

Hello, love your videos and have made many of your projects. My friends and I discussed finding from the centre of the ball, many have the yarn vomit problem so I did an experiment. After tens' if balls I have found that if you pull from the right hand side of horizontal printed labels (like you have) and on vertical printed labels, readable from holding the ball upright, you pull from the bottom, I have had 100% success. I am off to the wool shop to start this shawl. I love it.

Hello. I read Rosemary Wright's comment and I fully agree with her. I had surgery in June and again in August and have been unable to go out or do anything. So I found a love for crochet and I just love your videos and how well and detailed you explain things. Your videos are clear and easy to follow. You make me giggle when you make a mistake and laugh at the end. It's very cute. I have made a few of your patterns, hats, scarves, and shawls, and they turned out wonderful. Please keep up the great work and just to let you know, I will hit that subscribe button as soon as I hit comment. Thank you for your videos. Looking forward to making more of the patterns you show us.

I usually watch quite a few people on KZbin for tutorials. But I've been stuck on you for quite awhile. I've made 3 of the ombre market bags in various yarn. I just completed this shawl for my stster's birthday, and it's beautiful. I did solid white using cotton yarn. With cotton it's a bit stiff. So what did I Do? I watched your video on how to soften yarn. It's currently soaking for the night in conditioner. I love your tutorials and advice. Thank you so much.

Hello, I made this one quite small, you can easily make it larger by adding more chains at the start, also you can make it longer by adding more rows It was quite a while ago that I make this one and I have given it away to charity, I would say the size was meters 1.2 meters by 50 cm

Beautiful shawl. You crocheted 160 chains - what are the multiples if I want to adjust the width around? Also, what was your final size (length & width)
@CrochetwithClare
@CrochetwithClare 4 жыл бұрын
thank you! You can make this as long or short as you like and when you have finished your first row and have any chains left over you can just remove them out
@aimeestephens6590
@aimeestephens6590 6 жыл бұрын
Is there a multiple that you can chain to make it longer if you wanted??
@CrochetwithClare
@CrochetwithClare 6 жыл бұрын
not really. you can make your initial chain as long as you want your shawl to be. if you end up with a few extra after finishing the first row, i show you how to take them out. i started my shawl with 160 chains. I believe it is a multiple of 5 when you work the very first row, since you are working the first cluster of stitches, skipping 3 and then slip stitching into the next. try using that and see what you get. let me know how you get on

Hello, the beauty of this shawl is this shawl can be easily made any width or length, I gave my one away as a gift and I can not remember what size it was, if I was to make another one i would make it wider, so make more flowers than i did in the video Hope this helps a little

Hi Bobby...I luv this design and luv the way you have explained the stitches in the tutorial...being a beginner ur explanation is simple to understand...I am trying to make the same pattern.. but I have made a mistake with the base....instead of 6 petals I have made only 5 in 1 flower and I have already started with the next level...how can I change it without having to start all over again. Wud sewing a petal in between b good?
@CrochetwithClare
@CrochetwithClare 7 жыл бұрын
Hello, you only need the petals on one side, so if you are able to still do the first row of the mesh section of the shawl then I wouldn't worry about it. You can try to sew a petal, but i am not sure if that would work, you may have to start again But like I said if you can still do the mesh section, no one will know that there is a petal missing :)

it's a nice design but i had to keep rewinding and sometimes guessing as to where you place your stitches and how each section should look -- it would be nice if you would pause at every section, and show how your work is --- how each section should look, where you've placed your slip stitches, etc. thank you for sharing your design; it's lovely but the video has room for improvement. thanks again.

hi M Vaj, you make your beginning chain as wide as you want your shawl to be. You can always remove extra chains at the end of the first rows if there are too many. I started with 160

@CrochetwithClare
@CrochetwithClare 9 жыл бұрын
Kristina Bostoghanashvili Hi here is where you can find the written pattern. You just make chains for how long you would like the shawl and then work the flowers from there. the flowers are made first before the body of the shawl and are worked on both sides of the chain. the video will also show you how to do this. i made my shawl 160 chains long. www.bobwilson123.org/ponchos-and-shawls.html

HI,When you mention the yarn is "8 ply", what does that mean and how do you see that? I live in Belgium, so to look for the right yarn I'd like to understand what people are talking about. I think your tutorials and video's are great by the way!!
@CrochetwithClare
@CrochetwithClare 8 жыл бұрын
+Vivianne Lo Thank you so much for your great feedback :) 8ply is the 'thickness'of yarn and 8ply can also be callek DK or double knit - this thickness of yarn can be used with a 4mm hook This document can help you with other hook sizes and thicknesses www.scribd.com/doc/237263780/Untitled?secret_password=d3HHC6ugHOzs2NCeVlHu#fullscreen

Hi, this looks like fast project. Do you remember how long it took for you to make it?
@CrochetwithClare
@CrochetwithClare 7 жыл бұрын
hi, depending on your crochet speed and experience it should only take about a day or so. my projects take longer since i am designing them as i go and have to write them out at the same time. i would say no longer than 2 days though.
