I just watched ten tutorials on this stacked method. Yours is the clearest best demonstrated of them. I am teaching my sister how to crochet and will be sending her this video. I also just learned something new here that the stacked is way better than the pullup method I have been using for years. Well done!!!❤

Omg I stumbled upon this today and because of the gaps from my turning chains had discouraged me from continuing to crochet. This makes so much sense and makes me excited to pick my hook back up and get working!

I love the way she does the alternative stitch since I never like the 2nd way she showed by pulling up the yarn to the height of a DC This new way helps on the border stitches also 🧶🧶🧶

i have a quick question. There are what looks like 2 legs when you look at the side where you start the second single crochet. Are you going through both or just the one closest to you. But I have to say i love love love your stitch how to videos.

Nice video. The stsc variant makes it easy, but does create a visual and minor textural change in the appearance of the row; hence, keep careful count of your stitches--or place markers carefully. I use it for certain things, and others I use a variant on regular turning chains. Replacing: "Ch 3, turn -- dc in 4th chain from hook, dc to end of row" with "Turn -- stsc 2, dc to end of row" is nicer, and is not as dense as working an ldc across--though, they are useful for other things....appearance, density. Stacked is good for beginners, and Linked can be an option when needed, just like Extended, etc. Keep on Crocheting.

I have never liked the bumpy edge, to me it always made my projects look sloppy. I did try the loopy one a while back but was not impressed, for many reasons. But I just did a swatch of SC. HDC and DC using the stacked method and I am so very impressed with the ease of the stitch and the beautiful smooth, straight edges. I am a convert. Thank you so very much!

Thank you soo much! Love the “hack” techniques. The stacked SC are much neater and easier to work through. I’m wondering, if you have a technique to smooth edges when making ribbed rows?!? Like when making the band on a hat/beanie. Appreciate you!

Here’s my question… I am going to be making a blanket (I’m still beginner and I haven’t even made anything yet) and there are going to be 150 + 1 chains to begin with. I most definitely will have to count my stitches and use stitch markers. It’s a simple pattern where each and every row begins with a single crochet and ends with a double crochet. It calls for one turning chain at the end of each row as well. Using your method, would I still need that one turning chain? Or does this not even apply to this since the pattern does not call for a two or three chain turning chain? I just ripped it out because although I don’t have the gaps or bumps on the side the entire project looks like a smile when you lay it out flat. So I’m assuming I must’ve messed up somewhere. How can I prevent that from happening so I don’t have to frog it yet again? 😩
