This is just like the brick stitch. And I always just carry yarn up the side so I don't waste yarn. Very lovely.

Do you do anything special when you carry the yarn up the sides? What border do you favor? I have done some complicated stitches, but never carried the yarn up the sides, so I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks! I am planning this in Redheart Monet variegated yarn and Caron Violet- both 4wt.

I’ve made this pattern multiple times in the last 20 years. I have two variations in that one seems more like a wave and another a honeycomb as you said. But they’re basically the same I think of. In this pattern from this video, I wanted to add more texture - so on the minority color here, the darker shade, I made a small cluster stitch at the lowest level of your “honeycombs.“ I think it was 2 halfdouble crochet cluster. I find this pattern and the other one I’m talking about which is a little bit more wavelike, it’s not really simple. Anything is simple once you get used to it, but make no mistake. You have to be spot on with every single stitch and count each stitch. The effect is absolutely gorgeous.

Ive finished my comforter. See it is bigger than an afghan and could fit a California king bed. My question you you is it needs ver little shaping if any. The sides once border is applied will be straight. Does this need blocking it folds straight. The border seems a little unclear since it seems to the the depth and of the two rows that go around the diamond. I really want this to look nice and need guidance to do that. I made this a little smaller with a variegated yarn (Monet) as the main color and a contrasting darker color (Dark Orchid) as the outlines. I'm working with Bernat Blanket right now. I'm just having problems with the "honey" popping out like a bubble, but I think it's just because the tc stitches are too tall. I can't figure out how to make them any shorter without it not being a tc stitch. Otherwise, the BB yarn is working out.
