So beautiful...just like all your work. I'd like to ask you ...I got my yarn for my little blocks that are made with Ice Picasso rainbow and white. How many balls do I need of each to make a full size blanket. I bought bags of eight of both. I'm wondering if I should or one more bag of each.
@marigeobrien2 жыл бұрын
IMO, you explain things SO well, you never have to worry about confusing anyone. Thank you! If you don't mind, I was wondering if it is possible for you to do a tutorial on a pattern called the "wiggly stitch." It's a two-process stitch. First you create a simple filet crochet base. Then, using that base, you work SC or DC over it, going back and forth with the pattern. I've seen it done, but the only examples I can find are so ugly and so basic (and usually in DC, though I think in SC it looks much nicer) that it's hard to imagine it as being nice. Yet I happened to see an example of one at a friend's house and it can be so pretty. ?? Well, I hope you consider it. I really love the way you explain everything. You make the hardest patterns so easy!

You made a University of Texas gingham blanket (on my screen it's orange, grey'ish, and white)! 🧡 There's a saying, "There's a little piece of me in everything I crochet." My hair also makes its way into my work, which is why I like that saying. :D 12:10 and 13:29 is where folks who struggle with the concept of starting chains + x can get an explanation of why it's 13, not 10. For those who need to visualize the math: 5th chain from the hook is the first dc And the second, so keep the number 2 in your head. 13 chains - 5 skips = 8 chains remaining 8 chains + 2 dc = 10 (8 additional dc will be made so the total equals 10 dc) Starting chains throw me off to this day when I'm trying to write my own patterns (admittedly, I haven't tried very hard), so I wanted to break it down for beginners.
@HookedbyRobin Жыл бұрын
I love that saying and thank you for the maths visual.😃🤗
@donna7176 Жыл бұрын
Hi, Shyanha -- let me see if I can explain this correctly. You need 13 because those extra chains will make up your first double crochet. If you only did 10 chains, you'd fall short due to skipping whatever amount Robin says (I forget, sorry). I hope this explained it for you.

This info isn't new to me, but the video caught my eye because of the ribbed border and the modern colors (I'm not always a fan of mustard, but this is great!). I watched just a couple minutes, so far, and I can say: you are my people! Breaking it down, analytically. Using math to calculate what you want, etc. That's how I like to work too. It's amazing how many people I've introduced to the idea of a scale for the yarn room but with a scale and some calculating, you can learn so much for your crocheting! Knowing the "why" and the foundational concepts behind a pattern gives those learning much better information than just one set amount of chains to chain. Working to dimensions rather than a particular gauge is my favorite way to work.

This one is definitely going on my list of projects! After I finish my ombre style blanket which I started today 🤣 I was wondering if there's a possibility to add some depth to the gingham design? Something along the lines of - the first row of the contrasting color in backloop (rightside) or frontloop (wrong side) pushing that row back - continuing all the rows after that full loop - the first row of the next color on top of that frontloop (wrong side) or backloop (rightside) pushing the row below back It definitely destroys the easy pattern repeat you got now, but in my head at least it would cool.

Thanks so much for this tutorial. I tried to make a gingham blanket before and it did not work out so well. I ended up stopping with 2 rows of gingham and finishing with just DC rows with 2 more gingham rows at the end. That's because my count was off, my changing color didn't go so smoothly and I was really just a beginner. But now that I'm more advanced and with the help of your tutorial I feel as though I can do this with no problem. Your explanation of the color change and how to choose your colors was very helpful. I really enjoyed watching this video and I can't wait to try this again with the yarns I have at home.
