I have 4 cats, and I have to sneak in my crochet sessions during their naps. These are wonderful coasters, and I use cotton yarn leftovers to make these. I have binocular vision disfunction, so it's hard to read patterns without eye fatigue. I'm so grateful for your tutorial and the chance to make nice gifts for people.

Thank you for your easy-to-follow tutorial!! I especially liked your caveat about inadvertently covering up the 1st stitch and being careful at the corners! (10:23) I learned that the hard way 😂 I also liked your tip on hiding the very last end stitch by weaving/over lapping! Bravo! ❤🇨🇦

Your written pattern has an error from Round 1. If you follow "CH 3 and 1 DC into the ring, CH 2, * 2 DC, CH 2, 2 DC ** into centre ring, repeat from * to ** 4 more times" you will end up with 22DC(including 1 x CH3 in the beginning) and 12 CH. I'm glad I stopped at attempt #2 and followed the instructions in the video instead. Thank you for the video.

Do you think using a medium yarn for coasters instead of a bulky one will make a big difference?? I love your videos and want to try all the coaster tutorials, but would like to use the yarn I already have!!
@CrochetandTea
@CrochetandTea 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely if you just make sure you pair it with a hook that matches. You might need to add an extra round to get the size you’re looking for :)

Hi, I've made my first hexagon coaster from your video now I'm making my 2nd, just asking is there a way to make the corners of the hexagon more pointy? 😅
@CrochetandTea
@CrochetandTea 3 жыл бұрын
If you add in an extra chain on the corners that should do it :-)

Hello, if we want we can just continue the rows to make it bigger?
@CrochetandTea
@CrochetandTea 4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can keep going, just remember the method of adding one increase on every section of ‘pie’ for each new row and it should remain nice and flat.

I find it very rough ton fit in 6 blocks of 2 crochet in a small magic ring as I am using macrame cord. So I did 6 chains instead of 5 chains.

This is a wonderfully approachable tutorial, very enjoyable :) How much wool would you say a placemat would take? I’m planing to make them around 30 centimetres across.
@CrochetandTea
@CrochetandTea 3 жыл бұрын
I would say with a standard size ball of DK yarn you should get at least 2 placemats. Hope that helps ☺️

Love your videos thank you! I’ve made so many coasters I don’t know what to do with them! If I was to sell some (because I can’t stop crocheting but have too much to use) do you have any copyright rules, would I just credit your name as the pattern designer? Thank you

Tanushree, I used 6 ply cotton yarn, with 3.5 mm hook, and it took about 30 gms. Fir 1 coaster size @7 inches diameter

Love this design. I’ve been on the lookout for coaster/placemat designs for my kitchen table for a good while now and this looks like a potential winner :D Is there a particular yarn or cord you would recommend that’s relatively resilient to food wear and tear? I know they’d be washable but I’m still after a certain degree of hardiness if they’re going to stand the test of time. Love your instruction style by the way, it’s nice to go along with you through the entire project from start to finish in real time. Relaxing too :)
@CrochetandTea
@CrochetandTea 3 жыл бұрын
If you’re looking for something resilient o would recommend looking into woven cords are t-shirt yarn. I have some Bernard home maker I believe it’s called which is really good for hardiness.

My hexagon is turning out to be round. The two single crochet between the double crochet is flat and never peaks. Where am I going wrong? Is it that I use a thicker yarn, not the bulky one, more like thicker weight 4. Thanks
@CrochetandTea
@CrochetandTea 3 жыл бұрын
You could try 3 chains instead of 2, of you have a tendency to crochet your chains a little tighter than your dc stitches. I would also recommend blocking your work by spraying lightly with water and shaping afterwards. Hope that helps
