Love your tutorial! I'm working using Double Crochet can I use the same technique to make my buttonholes?

Sure - just give it a try! You may need to adjust the number of stitches according to the button you are using. The double crochet will be wider than a single crochet, so this wouldn't work as well for small buttons as for larger ones. Hope this is helpful! @@dianeduerst6117 depending on how you are doing this, you can just stick with ribbing if being worked along the edge of the front opening. I do this often.

wendy Taylor Hmmm....I suppose you could try making the button holes horizontal in your work (side to side) in necessary and use the same method shown. You may need to vary the number of chains for the hole (and hence, the size of the button to fit). Another option is to discontinue the waffle stitch and to add a button band to your work, which is very common when crocheting cardigan sweaters. Hope this helps!
