For anyone following along with this, can I just recommend that you leave your yarn tails longer when you create a slip knot and just crochet them into the work as you go. Leaving them as short as she does means it’s likely to unravel with wear or washing ☺️

Maddie Milligan I just learned a Russian Join which leaves basically no yarn tails at all- if you’re past the initial chain of course. I can sort of see her crochet background in her technique- she leaves a short tail that sticks inwards, she uses shaping techniques in the round, she crochets using tight tension- these are all things that are required for amigurumi/stuffies to keep their shape. Thank you everyone for all the lovely comments!! It really means so much ❤️ I'm sorry I haven't been able to answer all the comments :( but here are some answers to questions: 1. I used (2) 2.5oz skeins of yarn for the pink, blue, green, and yellow and (3) 2.5oz skeins for the purple! (I had a little leftover of all) 2. It took me a full week to finish probably about 3 hours a day! 3. If the link isn't working it's the Lily® Sugar 'n Cream® Cotton Yarn in the colors (Rose Pink, Soft Violet, Country Yellow Light Blue, Meadow) but keep in mind this yarn was pretty stiff! 4. I stitched on the clouds to the sweater with some embroidery thread and my crochet needle. 5. I used a 4mm hook Also, thank you for all the suggestions!! I loved all the tips and will definitely use them next time! Love you all x

A way to make round pieces easier is to start with a foundation stitch first instead of a foundation chain. It’s sturdier and easier to not get twisted. A sweater I’m making at the moment had a twisted faux rib at the cuffs which uses double crochet, so I started the whole thing with foundation double crochet and the joined it in the round with a slip stitch.

The reason the sleeves ended up so long is bc you typically make the chest piece narrower at the sleeve than the rest of it so the sleeves start at the shoulder. This turned out very nice. I’ve only crocheted myself shorts but never any tops. It’s sweater season so maybe I’ll try.
@98_Claire3 жыл бұрын
I don't understand do you mean you crochet the shoulder part of the sleeve first not the cuff?
@xXRikkuOfDyuumXx3 жыл бұрын
@@98_Claire I think when they say “so the sleeves start at the shoulder” they don’t mean to start at the shoulder when you crochet. I think they mean that the attachment seam between the sleeve and the body panel will actually sit (start) on your shoulder instead of hanging below your shoulder. Hope that helps!

Personally I find freestyle crochet way easier than following a pattern. Patterns are dense and confusing. It's so hard to keep track of my place in a pattern. Visualizing shapes and paying attention to the form of what I'm creating is much easier for me. It's so much more direct and physical. Also everything is exactly the right size because I use my body as a reference while creating it!

I love this sweater! I am always happy when people get into crocheting. I only made one sweater so far in the several years that I have been crocheting. This many me want to make more. I love the colors you chose. I really commend you for making this without a pattern. It turned out amazingly! Drop shoulder sweaters are really easy as they really don't include shaping apart from the modified drop shoulder sweaters. I feel like this may be a place where you can start if you want to get into sweater making and then learn different types of shaping after getting the basic construction down. That's the best advice I can give as someone who has very little experience making sweaters.

I really like the sleeves. The reason you haven't seen anyone go back and forth is cause crochet is one sided and you can't replicate it going backwards, unlike knitting where you can purl so the knit side is always showing. You can cut your yarn, start at the right again and keep going that way in order for all your stitches to look the same, it just means a lot of ends to weave in.

Just so u know next I make a colorful sweater dont use cotton because cotton fades very quickly and if you use in acrylic yarn the colors won't fade at all so next time you make a colorful sweater I would suggest you use acrylic yarn instead of cotton just a little helpful tip

acrylic yarn doesn't stay as soft and it's bad for the environment though :((

Hey!! I’m planning on making this sweater because I found that it’s the easiest pattern (and it’s exactly what I’m looking for!). However, I want to use a yarn that’s a little more drapey but also more stretchy than the yarn used in this video. Does anyone have any recommendations for a yarn or fiber combination that would be good for what I want to make (yarn weight 3 and 4 both work)? I also want it to be affordable because it’s my first crochet sweater, and I don’t want to mess it up after spending a lot of money on it. Thank you!

i use the brand Big Twist because its really good quality for its price and i think she used 5oz of each color all together. To make sweaters i usually use a 5mm hook and weight 4 medium yarn. If you use a stiffer yarn you can soak it in a 1 part vinegar 3 part water mixture to soften it (more vinegar will make it softer) if you switch between weight 3 and 4 just use a bigger hook for 3 or more stitches
