I’m slowly adding crochet and knit pieces to my wardrobe. I want pieces for all the seasons. I especially like to make cardigans. Tip for keeping my closet stocked with clothes I’ll actually wear….at the beginning of each season I turn the hangers the opposite way and then at the end of the season anything that I haven’t worn is pulled out and donated.

I hated having to pick out clothes for the day so I lived 3-4 years in my own personal uniform. Black t-shirt and jeans (I’m lucky that I can work in jeans). I wore that every day, only had a couple different outfits for special occasions. However, now I’m getting tired of the same look. So this is a great video for me. Thanks

I totally have a uniform!!! 😂😂😂 I love how easy it is. It wasn’t necessarily easy to figure out what I liked, but once I did, it’s been perfect for me!

Your wardrobe looks awesome. I had made a summer crocheted top, but then spent a long time finding the right tank top and capris to go with it. The outfit looks great, so it was worth the wait. I had purchased 6 different colors of the same style of sweater because it was on clearance sale. I wear them a lot in the fall and winter months. I know what you mean about clothes feeling like pajamas. Comfort has become more important to me as I age. When I was younger, I would put up with very uncomfortable clothes to look stylish. It's just dumb.

You sound EXACTLY like me lol! Comfort is my priority! But I didn’t do that when I was younger either! What were we thinking!?!? 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️😂 I also buy all the colors of something I love 😃

Great video, Shannon! ♥️ I’ve never really thought of making crochet pieces to match the clothes in my wardrobe. I’ll have to give that a try 😊

Great perspective as usual, my friend! Love how you embrace your favorite colors and styles! Planning our outfits and streamlining our crochet pieces really does help with "decision fatigue" - which, when it comes to getting dressed, is also emotional. We all want to make sure our clothing choices reflect the message we are trying to send when we step out the door. You are so relatable and encouraging! ❤🧡🤎

I was a bank executive and clothing was outrageous. Then I watched the men. 3 suits per season changed up with shirts and ties. Eyeopener!!! I used my budget for scarves and other accessories. Now I would definitely make unique and striking scarves. I also learned that slouchy berets could keep you warm and not mess up your hair.

Using a similar starting point with the colors of my summer "going out" basics, I realized that I needed a summer sweater to wear on cool mornings & evenings, as well as to stores and restaurants that are always too cold. I finished a hexagon cardi made from Caron Blossom Cakes (2) in Yacht Club at the end of June and I have already worn it a bunch. It's light and airy enough for summer but soft and warm enough to serve the purpose. Love this concept!

Skirts and dresses - woo! Lol they are SO much more comfortable and I wear skirts literally everyday. As far as wardrobe, I dont coordinate my entire wardrobe, but I do plan outfits when I make things. I used to just make one-ofs but those don't get worn nearly as much as the things I deliberately sewed to mix and match. Im not a "capsule wardrobe" persin either, but I like having kind of mini capsules - a skirt that has a couple of shirts that match, a sweater that goes with a skirt and shirt or a dress or two. So I try to do this on a smaller scale within my wardrobe. And if all else fails - theres always jean skirts that go with most anything lol.

Right!?!?!? Sooo much more comfortable! I’d love to see some of your coordinates you’ve made!!!

A good place to donate hats-cancer treatment centers. When dad was going through treatment, the clinic had a basket of hats for patients. I donated several. He learned to loom Knit & made a bunch to leave there.

I relate so much to the morning bafflement with my clothes! I ended up buying a few of the same long-sleeved tunic in a few patterns and a bunch of the same black tights so I can just grab those and go, and now that it’s summer I have no idea what to wear again 😅 Almost all my clothes are black and I’m drawn to really bright colourful yarn so I’m hoping as I start finishing wearables they’ll all work together 🤓

I wear dresses every day. I have about six that are wintry and about five that are summery, and that's work sorted for the year! I wear them till they've worn out and replace them with one similar so they go with existing cardis, tights and shoes!

I hate clothes shopping because I am petite. Ya know what petite is in clothing world. It means short. So nothing fits me correctly. And I had a kid so shopping in the boys or teenage girls section doesn't work either because I have curves. If I go to a specialty shop, if I can find one, I pay bougie dollars for something I kinda like. So I decided since I would spend a lot of money anyway I am just making my own clothes now. Sewing and crochet. Although I am not a fan of the crochet shorts. That might be age talking.
@ShannonTalksYarn3 ай бұрын
That’s so awesome! You are totally right, if you have to spend money, it should be in something totally customizable to you!! And fyi, I’m 100% with you about the shorts 😂

It was from just vintage crochet. The only difference is that she used multiple yarns for the rounds and I used a striped yarn. Here’s a link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5_CfJ5nn79pjrcsi=yiZNZrhSx7cfsTW2

@ShannonTalksYarn3 ай бұрын
Most of them come from a website called bloomchic. It’s for mid and plus size. I know it’s fast fashion but I think they’ve done a good job of curating better quality than some other online shops and I appreciate that they are made for my body shape. I’ve seen scams on instagram that seem like they are their sales but I recommend going directly to their sight if you’re interested!
