The long lines of yarn on the back are floats. There are ways to catch the floats so that thy are not so long.

If you use small bobbins for each color it will make untangling them. If you look on The yarn council Website they have measurements for most sizes. There is no use carrying yarn if it’s not used in each row.

I love this sweater, I am a "Vintage" and I guess that's what you are calling (Kitchie )? I had to look it up and this is what I found (Kitchie is a style of art and design that was popular in the 1950s and 1960s. It is characterized by its use of bright colors, bold patterns, and kitschy motifs) Thank you

I’d say make a matching hat with the white and pink stripes and have an aqua Pom Pom! A beret would look soooo cute but I’m biased. 😆

This is soooooo cute! You did a great job and working like this - figuring things out as you go - is how you learn. Typically I do this too but with knitting. For colour knitting I never liked stringing the thread along the back so I started wrapping the colours every stitch - watching the tension of course - and it makes a much better background. I figured this out as I was making baby sweaters for my son and didn't want his fingers to get caught in the strings and hurt him.

So absolutely beautiful! It turned out amazing! It reminds me of those pastel glitter houses (Puttz? Pootz?) The pearls are the cherry on top! They really pop the sky off 😆 ((this needs a battery operated fairly light pack hidden in the stitches that will incentivize the lining 😜))

This is ENTIRELY too cute. oh. my. god. I love it. You're like a lil candy lady. I'm obsessed with this colorway. I keep thinking about the buttons... I had an idea to paint buttons for some earrings, but I was thinking about using a nail art stamper and some kind of compatible paint (prolly nail polish) ... and then use UV resin or UV cure gel to seal it. I don't know if this is helpful at all, but like the stamp would ensure a certain level of uniformity and quality of image on the buttons and you could make different colored peppermints or snow people or snowflakes... But also don't change anything because it's *precious*. I loved it and then you put that pink and white stripe border and my heart sang. 🥰🥰
@michelle_jasek2 жыл бұрын
Aww thank you! And that’s a really good idea for the buttons!

I hope this makes sense. When i crochet with projects i color change in. If there is a big gap between color changes. I will crochet over the carrying yarn every 6 stitches or so. So theres no big line of yarn on the ws of my project. It keeps the lines short so you dont get your hands or arms etc stuck in those long lines of yarn.

You should definitely make a cardigan! It’s basically 5 squares sewn together! Super easy 😊

@@michelle_jasek I think I am going to give it a try🙂 I’m mostly worried about getting dimensions correct lol. I’m also not strongly skilled in mathematics. It makes my brain hurt!
@madiiewilloughby9739 Жыл бұрын
You could have eliminated the lines by doing it like a tapestry stitch and hide it within the stitches. Much easier.
@TheAusomnessLucy2 жыл бұрын
I am going to try to recreate this cardigan, I love it so much! I have no idea how I'm going to do it but I will! I have never made any clothing but I do a lot of graph-ghans so we'll see 😂 also have you ever tried carrying the yarn into the stitches instead of behind them? I do that sometimes depending on the yarn or I make a bunch of little balls of yarn so I don't have to carry the yarn at all (although this option can become very tangly if you aren't careful)
@cintiapollock24862 жыл бұрын
why dont you just carry the other color along on the back you know crochet over it so you have no loops of loose yarn behind on the underside? This turned out very cute tho
@michelle_jasek2 жыл бұрын
I’ve tried that before and the colours always poke through on the good side, so i think i’m just going to sew a lining for it!
@eris3332 жыл бұрын
not to be rude or anything, but why do you not crochet over each of the tails of yarn? because then there wouldn't be as many lines of yarn on the back side. plus if the unused yarn shows through, you can pull it a little tight so it doesn't clump up.
@michelle_jasek2 жыл бұрын
I don’t do this because i find that the yarn i’m crocheting over starts peeking though on to the front 😬 so i’s rather have the mess on the inside lol
@peejthepeach72722 жыл бұрын
Just wondering, is there a reason you leave the lines of yarn out on the inside instead of crocheting it into the cardigan?
@michelle_jasek2 жыл бұрын
I always find that when i crochet the lines in, the colours poke through onto the good side. Also if i did crochet them in i would have to crochet over four yarn threads and i feel that each single crochet would be so bulky. If that makes sense lol
