@@maniswolftoman A chef is also an artist. And artist can limit his canvas and palette and still make art. That is what Pepin is doing and that is what Lots of Hair but No Money was probably referring to. He is limiting his canvas and palette to that of the viewer, with the knowledge of what that really is, rather than the asinine idea of what is easy to come by materials of many "chefs". As for your point of such being inaccessible to many viewers, are you even in the states? Because there was nothing he used that is inaccessible.
@paulwagner6884 жыл бұрын
One of the reasons the show is structured. His recipes for this show deliberately use everyday pantry items so people can make them. Even when doing some baking, he talks about using "Wondra" flour
@crafter90003 жыл бұрын
@@maniswolftoman So what is your definition of an artist then? The human body has limited ability of sensual recepion and perception - namely the five principal and four additional senses. Stimulation of senses, nothing more or less, is what every artist in the most basic principle does. What senses do a painter, a sculpturer, a musician etc. stimulate? But there is another element to art and that, because it is widely accepted as such, is composition. A paiter composes colours and shapes and so on, a musician composes sound, tone, pattern etc. But what's with the 'other' senses? A parfumeur composes odeurs. Good parfumeurs are considered artists as well. What about composing tastes and flavours? Why wouldn't that count as art as well? And you're right, most restaurants and kitchen crews would be best compared to trained orchestras performing well know pieces without introducing their own innovation. That would be a very reproductive approach but still is a pretty accessible, rudimentary form of art. And what about the innovators, Bach, Beethoven, Schumann, Strawinsky, Miles Davis, Pink Floyd, Kraftwerk, Lovebug Starski, the list goes on and on. Aren't they comparable to Scappi, Escoffier, Haberlin, Bocuse, Witzigmann, Adrià and so on? Sorry, this turned out a longer text I intended it to be :D

NOW IM HOOKED !! and i cant get enough of his shows. In addition i also include Americas Test Kitchen, Christina, Julia and many others to be excellent programs to watch. Now that im in my 40's im enjoying cooking.

I have to thank my mother also when we came home from school we had a delicious treat because she was watching Julia Child. So I definitely know where I get my love of food from my mother and father.
