I do the same with the core. Maybe a little bigger, so I can still find it easy after cooking and put it on my plate. Love it!

I love fried cabbage! Never thought about crockpot cabbage though. I can’t stand coleslaw or sour kraut. Bacon makes everything better!! I love baked 🥓. I like it in between crispy and chewy. We have fresh hog jaw bacon from our pigs. I like it cooked in green beans and tators or in pintos.

This looks amazing as it is, served alongside a nice roast or pork loin, something like that. When Chris said "soup" though, that got my wheels turning and I'm thinking in a bowl with some sliced kielbasa, maybe some potato, and a little cider vinegar would make an amazing soup! This is suddenly the most versatile recipe!! I'd have to sub out the pearl onions though, as much as I love onions, I never liked the taste of pearl onions so I'd just use some yellow onion.

I agree not crazy about (minnie) pearl onions myself 😃😃😂😂

Don't have pearl onions, but I do have pickled garlic. Made the recipe with onions and included the pickled garlic- has that same vinegary taste to it. Outstanding!!!!!

I'll eat it if it's not extra crispy and only a little crispy.. cuz, you know, bacon but I'll probably grouse about it under my breath while munching down on it! ;)

I wish cabbage liked me... but alas it does not. I like Sauerkraut but not coleslaw because of the raw taste of it. However, whether cabbage likes me or not, I might have to try this and suffer. I like thick bacon but I like it any way I can get it and I like it somewhere between crispy and chewy. :) My Daddy liked it charred/burnt/crunchy. LOL

I don't eat pork, and I am not real fond of turkey bacon. But beef bacon is really good IF you get the right brand. Walmart used to carry Gualtneys which is amazing, but it carries something else now that is disgusting. Its pricey, but I love it. Works great in any recipe requiring bacon. Used them in smothered green beans in the crockpot. Set it out on the table, and went to get something out of the kitchen. I came back it was GONE.

I LOOOVE thick cut bacon that's crunchy but not over cooked in any way. Alot of people say more than 4 or 5 pieces of bacon can cause a heart attack, in old testament times pork was considered "unclean" but once in a great while i cook 3 pounds of thick cut bacon and eat it all for dinner. We live in New Testament times now. Jesus Christ and the apostle Paul both made it clear that GOD has given us all animals and beasts for food. We should not drink the blood or eat anything bloody. Jesus Christ the son of God said that not me.

I like fairly thin bacon, fried until the fat turns rusty coloured and crispy, but before the whole thing goes hard. It's tricky to get it right.

+Kym Gregorich We haven't tried it in our Instant Pot...yet! But when we do we'll let y'all know it turns out! Welcome to the Crock Posse!!!
@NJBrand6 жыл бұрын
Hi there, Kym! Welcome to the Posse! It's all Mikey's fault that I ended up with an IP after he posted a link to it in Amazon on Pi Day!! So, there are some IP/Pressure Cooker recipes on the site, and I heard that there will be more as the recipes get converted. :D Mikey convinced me (and probably others) that if he could use the IP then so could I. (That thing is as intimidating as junkyard dog!) Anyway, welcome aboard. Make sure you're eating or drinking anything while watching cuz you're sure to bust out giggling if not worse and something might end up on the monitor! I know from experience but it still happens.
@kymdisney116 жыл бұрын
NJ Hill Thanks for the welcome! I don't have an actual "Instant Pot" but I do have a beautiful purple pressure cooker that has all the same functions. I also have a MultiCooker (again, purple) that has slow cooker functions. So far I'm loving these videos! :)
@NJBrand6 жыл бұрын
Oooooohhhhh!?!?! Purple!? :D
@NJBrand6 жыл бұрын
Oh, and no worries I think several folks have other pressure cookers than the IP. I think that Cris and Mikey reviewed the newest pressure cooker that's being offered by Crock Pot brand on one of the weekly chats and are still playing with it to test it out. I just happened to be able to get a good deal on the brand IP on Pi Day from Amazon. :)

Now I know I'm gonna be the oddball here, but I made a few adjustments to this recipe when I make it. 1. I use Onion Powder since I'm allergic to the oil in the onion family. When it is dry & minced or powdered it's pretty much gone. 2. I used Cavender's Greek Seasoning instead of Salt n' Pepper, just because I love Cavender's. 3. I added Baby Carrots, just to add color to the dish and 4. I am NOT a Bacon lover, and used Diced Ham instead. LOL Turned out great, and I've made it three times this Winter already. Seems better each time.
