I do this recipe every Christmas for the family. The only difference is I would pull my hair out if I dipped each one of those out. I simply lay out a long piece of parchment paper on my table and pour it onto the paper all at once then spread it out. It is so thick that is doesn't run so, it makes it super easy to get the thickness you want. I let it set until it is cool and firm, then cut it or brake it into pieces

I have made these for years, but with a different recipe. My MIL always made them with only dry roasted peanuts and only semi-sweet chocolate chips. She always heated the chocolate chips in the microwave, heating in 30 second increments until the chocolate melted, then combine with the peanuts and scoop using two teaspoons. I often add a little sprinkle of large crystal sea salt to the top to make them pretty and the extra salt is lovely for flavor. I have never had any problem with the chocolate losing too much of its tempering to cause the peanut clusters to be too dull or to get a bloom. These peanut clusters are a holiday requirement, especially since my MIL passed away 16 years ago, and we do several things at the holidays to keep her love of the season and her memory alive.

Hi, I still use my crock pot,I do stews ,curry’s , chilli and you can cook a whole chicken without adding any liquid, it stays nice and moist by cooking in its own juice. Cook pieces of cheap meat long and slow that makes it tender. You can do soups. You can cook deserts ,stewed fruit the list is endless. Many people do use their crockpot pots to the max, don’t bother reading the recipe books that comes with them. The crock pot hasn’t had it hay day it’s still going strong in the U.K. Mine has three settings low, high and auto. I put my ingredients in the pot plug it into a timer and then plug it into the socket. We can go out and have fun and i know that I haven’t got a run round getting a meal on the table as it’s already when we get home. So people give the crock pot/ slow cooker the love it deserves.

I agree. I'm in the US and subscribe to several newsletters for crockpot/slow cooker recipes. I think it is as popular as ever!! My favorite recipe is a pot-roast. BUT I also love to make a pasta sauce that I am cooking with Italian sausage and meatballs. I love cooking it slowly so the flavors meld perfectly.

Another use for crockpots this time of year is that it is by far the best way to make stock out of a turkey carcass. Just stick all the bones in the pot, add onion and some herbs, cover in water and let it simmer all night. By morning you just need to strain out the solids and you will have great stock.

We cook a lot in my hubby’s shed. He has a slow cooker, an air fryer, BBQ grill and kettle, smoker, pizza oven…. Since my first pregnancy, over 36 years ago, I cannot stand the smell of lamb….and he loves lamb! So we compromise and he cooks it in the shed, and I try not to gag at the dinner table.

Always remember to brown any bones and the onions before putting in the slow cooker, gives a far better flavour, also once you have strained the solids out, put in a saucepan and reduce to thicken or add cornflower mixed with water to make a mixture similar to heavy cream, then whisk in as you add the cornflour mix, quantity's of cornflower to liquid to be thickened will be on the box.

How about using some mini-marshmallows at the base instead of the caramel bits? Or how about adding raisins stirred in at the end, right before scooping the mixture out onto parchment paper? Peanuts and raisins are delicious together!

My mom has been making this since the 70's. She even came to my 2nd grade class and made it for everyone when I was little. I've been making this lately using a double boiler. I found this is a great way to use up the last bits of tortilla chips. I crunch them up into small pieces and toast them in the air fryer before mixing into the chocolate. Add a bit of cayenne if you like spicy. Any leftover snack can work, pretzels, chips, crackers, you name it. They don't last long in my house!

Fun fact: The correct term for that unsweetened chocolate used for baking is “Baker’s chocolate” and it’s actually NOT named because it’s a type of chocolate used by bakers, but is actually named after the Baker chocolate company founded by Edmund Baker.

A Crock pot/slow cooker cooks dried lentils very well. On the stove top I always have issues with boiling up foam etc but the slow cooker is super easy. Dried beans are less convenient because you have to soak them and then depending on the type also boil them to get rid of toxins. An Instant pot is a better bet for dried beans I think.

Another idea- this will blow your minds wide open. lol. Fill the baking tray with tiny sprinkles like the non pariels. Then make small dollops of chocolate on the sprinkles. Then there’s nothing clean. The buttons of the chocolate will have sprinkles on them and you pour the rest of the sprinkles back in or use them to decorate something else (you know there’s going to be a ton of baking right?!)

Edible gifts are fantastic budget savers if you have a lot of people to give to. The recipe can be scaled up or down and if you leave out the nuts and just melt the candy then you can mix in whatever you like in a bowl just heat the nuts or fruit etc before mixing it so they don’t cool the chocolate too quickly. Other suggestions would include covering cookies or pretzel chips or even crunchy bacon 🥓. As far as your tips for cooking meals I always brown my ingredients before adding them to the crockpot. Most foods need very little water if any and that way you don’t have to have meals as wet however the food is mostly steamed as opposed to roasted. I like to brown a roast, set it atop a bed of root veggies in large chunks, set the crock pot and go about my day. The meat will fall apart when done ✔️

It's always fun when someone discovers ways to use their slow cookers. I've made this candy during the holidays before and it always turns out good. My favorite version is a s'mores chocolate with those Golden Grahams cereal and miniature marshmallows mixed into the chocolate. It can be made with or without nuts. Did you know they make slower cookers now that have a searing function? I haven't used one yet, but it's on my wishlist of slow cookers to try out. I love my slow cookers and have two of them plus my Ninja Foodi with Smartlid which also has a slow cooker function. Never knew I needed an air fryer until I got that to replace my pressure cooker when it died. But yes, searing on the stove before cooking in a slow cooker can be a pain, but well worth the effort. I grew up in the 70s and I can't even imagine life without my slow cookers. I even used to have one dedicated for craft projects. They're great for making soap or melting candle wax.

Handy hint with chocolate is to make sure any utensil you are using is DRY, and plastic seems to do better than metal (temperature differences). I've only been farting around with chocolate for about 6 months and those seem like the two biggest rookie mistakes. I can see using a double boiler for this and adding in some cherry flavor, almond extract, or some mint extract but would not recommend doing it for anyone who hasn't messed around chocolate before.... Chocolate, custards/ice cream, candies, breads, and some other dishes are as much chemistry/biology experiments as they are creative taste creations. Great idea with the carmel thingies. I'm going to make some Mexican chocolate ice cream and will have a few kinds of chocolate left over so going to use this recipe as a base to use up the left over chocolate.

I still have my original Crock Pot from when I moved into my first apartment in the mid-‘80s. Three settings - off, low, and high. I occasionally use it for stews or chili, searing the meat in a cast iron skillet first. I mostly use my Crock Pot to make grits. I use twice as much water as called for on the grits box and cook on low for 7-8 hours, stirring a couple of times during the cooking. I get the BEST grits that way! So smooth and creamy. Anyway, I’m sure this candy would work great in my ancient Crock Pot. The "low" setting is quite low, so nothing ever scorches or burns.

I made my Oreo Smash treats* this year doing the regular chocolate almond bark. I crushed the cookies up to smaller chunks, like you'd see on the toppings of ice cream or frozen yogurt, melted my almond bark in the microwave, stirring occasionally because it can burn, and then mixed in the cookies. However, before I put them on the tin foil I had out, I sprinkled a little bit of salt first before placing the Oreo Smash mixture onto it. That little bit of salt on the bottom makes a mighty fine addition. I like doing this with roasted almonds too, but this recipe? Yes. I am going to have to do this because you made it look absolutely gorgeous. Good, no, great job, kiddo! Loved it! ETA: I completely forgot that some I made by putting mini marshmallows on top, some I made by mixing them into the chocolate. I did that at the end because I wasn't sure if the hot chocolate would melt the marshmallows or not. They didn't melt! *I stink at coming up with creative names. LoL

My grandparents always made this at Christmas time and my favorite was when they would add mini marshmallows in it. ❤

I hope you hit 3 million subs on Christmas, that'd be the best present ever. Didn't you almost hit one million subs around Christmas too? What a coincidence.
