Its unbelievable how Miami Vice only lasted 5 short seasons, especially in complete contrast to the cheap, toxic, cancerous reality TV shows like SURVIVOR and BIG BROTHER which have infested television for the last entire 2 decades now. SMH

Tubbs reduced to a glorified extra, some of the worst episodes of the show's run, meandering plotlines that felt like they were going nowhere... it all added up to a big mess. Even this, a major episode where the lead character is seriously wounded in the line of duty, spends half its time on a clip show format with plot points hadn't been relevant in years.

This episode was a very clips heavy show with Crockett remembering past encounters whilst in a coma state. This was a staple of a lot of 80's shows in either dream sequences or in the case of Magnum P.I/Dallas where an Angel or past character shows the lead character an alternative reality. These things are done to pad the running time when a show is unable to fill its full running time. Sometimes it's done well serving the story other times it isn't such as the time MV episode dealt with James Brown and strange phenomenon which ended with Trudy dreaming the whole thing.

On July 15, 1997, Versace was shot and killed in front of the mansion. Greg Kral, a real-life Miami police officer who sometimes appeared as an extra, was involved in the SWAT raid that turned up Versace's murderer, serial killer Andrew Cunanan.

I don't like Tubbs's beard, but the way he was so calm in the helicopter was very well done. I love how Switek and Lieutenant Castillo are waiting for the helicopter. Crockett's going to need a new shirt since the paramedics cut the one he had on off. That doctor has some serious bags under his eyes. He's going to be up for a while taking care of Crockett.

MV and the producers, cast often said they'd NEVER do or have TV cop clichés or contrived scenes but the show did do some corny, hacked bits. Crockett did have his 2nd wife get killed, shot by a bad guy. Crockett gets shot, heart area BUT returns to full duty, no issues or problems. Forensics & ballistics reports 📂 even in the 1980s only seem to take days or hours not weeks, months like in modern LE 🕵🏼‍♂️.

Same. I thought Trudy and Crockett had good chemistry, especially since Don and Olivia were friends in RL and worked on music together. Unfortunately not a lot of networks were brave enough to depict interracial relationships in the 80s, when some people were still so openly racist. Olivia Brown talked about a time when the MV cast was invited to a house party in Miami, only the hosts of the party wanted her and PMT to slip in through another door rather than be announced at the main entrance with the white party guests. She said Don immediately spoke up and said, "Nah, fuck that. We're not attending any party where you treat any of the guests like this. We'll have our own damn party."...and they all left together.
