No one should blame you when you give yourself time to mourn. When someone you love, who was such an important part of your life, passes away, that's going to be painful no matter what. Your editing on this one was fantastic.

Wow those shoes turned out AMAZING. Sorry to hear about your loss and I know exactly what you mean about everybody else seemingly moving on, feels almost like a betrayal. I had the outermost layer of heels on my dainite soles replaced today by a local cobbler and came back to find he put some cheap Chinese rubber heels on my nice boots, had to watch one of your videos to get my energy corrected

You chat about meeting people, when my father passed away, the family were amazed at the number of people who attended the funeral, I however was not. My ex Wife and I had taken my Mum and Dad on holiday to Switzerland one year, a place they had both always wanted to visit, halfway up a mountain, we are sitting outside a café eating Rosti, when this man walks up to my Dad and says "Hello Stan" ! We spent the next two hours listening to them reminiscing. When the visitor eventually left, I asked my Dad how he knew him, casually my Dad said, "We shared the same landing craft on D Day" ! They hadn't seen each other in over 40yrs, but talked as if it was only yesterday.

600 is so reasonable since you are basically handwelting the shoes. AND creating a painted spade sole! on your point about the thin leather, my cobbler union double monkstraps are amazing shoes. i love them. However, they cut the blind stich pretty shallow and it only took a few wears to begin wearing through at the toe. wish more manufacturers went a little thicker as you do here.

I think people deal with loss differently. Some are very hardened to it through work and personal experiences. They also put emotional values on each life. Someone you've been close to decided to take up base jumping. You'd be a fool to expend emotional energy on this person and when they die from said activity, so what. I don't see death as the end. Having said that, I don't think everyone gets another life. Some aren't worthy. We've just had an article in a big UK newspaper about kids who say they've lived previous lives. Time is key. Great job as usual. Always difficult fined original comments on perfection. 👍

All things in live still go on. When you lose someone will always a thing that you will remember. When you lose your parents that’s the most hard thing of live. Because than you are the next generation with a certain responsibilty. However, for what reason you always still saying “Lets continu”? It helps you to see things in the right matter of live. Call it relativize and put in perspective. Your job also helps to support this. So lets continu!

Great video Steve showcasing great work…..a fantastic work. You take your own time - your ‘gang’ out here are with you, behind you and supporting you. I think I said before, we’ll still be here. Some people look and act different when we’ve lost someone. They act like nothing happened when to you a great has happened. A lot of that is down to the fact that they don’t know how to act around you. What should they say? They are a bit self conscious is a lot of it. We understand and we don’t need you to be ‘normal’ just be you, we’ll understand . Shine on.

For a middle class guy like me that is very expensive. That said, the amount of work involved, the attention to detail, the finer touches, I mean that was not a resole. That was a full restoration. So $650 for a fully recrafted pair of well made shoes is actually very reasonable. Your videos and others that show the craftsmanship and labor that goes into shoe repair justifies the cost involved. I’m a craftsman as well but in steel. And potential customers will question the price. I simply say they are more then welcome to take the work somewhere else. Then they find one of two thing 1. I’m the only guy in the area that will do the work 2. I’m usually slightly cheaper then other shops or they see I’m including things other shops charge extra for. One thing I learned years ago was never undercut your prices. You have to make a living. I’d rather have less work for more money and more time to do it right then more work for less money and less time that makes it impossible to do my best work.
