1st wave black metal bands were Venom,Bathory,Mercyful Fate,King Diamond,Celtic Frost,Morbid and so forth,the Norwegians just added more extreme sounds to it and pretty much that's what it has evolved into along with atmospheric elements,such as paysage d'hiver.

COF rest of symphonic BM, and it is modern, already far from Venom, Sodom, Bathory, NWOBHM, Mercyful Fate. And also without counting the more modern sound. For example in 90's; Old Immortal, Marduk Old, Impaled Nazarene etc, this is the True BM 90's, no need to modern-sound and symphonic. It is no difficult to be more old school than COF :D. Underground and Old School only for me. I hate things big labels like Nuclear Blast, Century Media and co. I like early Necromantia ! but only the first 2 albums, old demos and first Ep. Original and great sound (like the old Greek scene in general). Two first Necromantia albums reminds me of Mortuary Drape and first two albums Mystifier ! especially for the rather technical bass and on good raw and gross sound. The early Necromantia is also part of the inspiration for the Cultes des Ghoules band that I adore !

I KNOW VERY WELL THAT EARLY C.O.F ALSO CONTAINS BLACK/METAL RIFFS, but Black/Metal 90's ! It remains a more MODERN derivative ! And I know very well the evolution of Speed/Metal! and what it will be used later! this style, like the Heavy/Metal (NWOBHM) and Thrash, are the roots of many things (later developments) "and this is no just that for the Black/Metal" ! but without these things they had before it, there would have been no COF, or Immortal, Marduk, ect ..., again you have nothing to teach me! (this doesn't make more old school for all that) COF rest of symphonic BM, and it is modern. Well , you have absolutely nothing to teach me on the BM apparently. Yes that's it ! stay with COF and co, and me I would continue to vomit on this modern shit.
