Idea for the DNC: Instead of hiring consultants to figure out a new platform, try to take a page from parliamentary systems. Every card-carrying member of the party can submit policy ideas, they can be big and over arching, or they can be hyper specific and costed out. All of these ideas are gathered together and members vote on them at the membership convention. The leadership then take this information on what the membership actually cares about and puts together the party manifesto, the guiding document that is supposed to be the touch point for all policy decisions going forward. Dems should do this. Not sure what the three-legs of the stool are for the party anymore? Ask your members. The internet exists and it doesn't have to be exclusively for porn or bigotry. Use it for good, use live stream events to boost engagement and have actual debates on what the party stance on these policies will be. Stop waiting for some magical person to walk down a mountain holding a list of rules your party will follow. People are sick of feeling like their Government doesn't listen to them. Ask the people. By the people. For the people.

I still think there is something you just don't understand, about why the "vibe" is with Trump and not with the Democrats. I get it is all vibes. I really do. It's Democrats that lie to me that they want something to be done about this absolute atrocity. But when someone comes along in their party that dares to say that health care is a human right, he or she gets stifled to the side. That's why that clip from Bill Maher went viral. It is a big, big problem that both parties in your two party system are so overrun by lobby money. Nancy Pelosi literally said that money corrupts Republicans, but it doesn't corrupt Democrats. That remark and that attitude is an insult to the intelligence of the potentially Democratic voter. And it points to a glaring lack of understanding of the current political moment. I think you guys totally misinterpreted Stephen A.'s stance, he was talking about the public perception, about how "Trump show" works in the mind of people, while how the democrats lack of voice plays out for the public. And he was right about how Trump created these stories during the campaign about how he will fix issues and he makes it look like he actually delivers (while not delivering, on made up issues); and he was right about how the public perception on democrats is that they care more about trans issues because they let Trump shape the narrative over this (while not even being an issue that the democrats ran on). In my opinion he was explaining how the charade is perceived.

I need you guys to take a look at JP Pritzker. He’s entirely focused on Illinois and the immigration raids right now but he also hasn’t had the luxury of media testing every he says and he just puts it out there. He’s clear, he states both the values and the law, and he makes it clear that if the administration is coming for the people of this state they have to go through him. I think he’s the model you’re looking for. Tammy Duckworth is pretty great too, especially going after Hegseth. I think especially with Pritzker he didn’t have a lot of time to fret because Chicago was getting targeted right away and he just had to launch into it.

I am in a country that is almost completely dependent on the funding and services provided by PEPFAR/American aid and we have been told not to distribute HIV medication that is already sitting in the storage warehouses in country. I work with teens who are living with HIV and help with supply change management at a clinic and everyone is completely terrified. If this freeze on foreign aid continues for a while- people everywhere will be affected.

Re: Gems and J6 pardons, NPR showed a press conference held last week with Dems speaking as well as Officers Dunn (spelling?) and Hodges commenting as well. Everyone spoke lovingly and reiterated what happened that awful day. Officer Hodges told how he worked at the Capitol on the day of t****'s second inauguration. He watched over the president who spat on him by pardoned and commuting sentences of the people who attacked him. I don't know why that video wasn't everywhere; it should have been. I highly recommend everyone watch it.
