First we’ll hear from Navigator Research on their most up to date messaging guidance for progressive campaigns and volunteers.
Then we’ll hop into a panel with Dan Pfeiffer, Navigator, and a super volunteer from Vote Save America to help make sense of the messaging landscape and provide input and guidance for VSA volunteers.
Finally, we’ll have a Q&A with Trent Seubert, DCCC National Distributed Director, on how to talk to the people you know about voting and volunteering, and how to get involved with DCCC’s relational organizing program in 2024.

Sometimes I forget that not everyone watched JAN 6 live like I did! I happened to have been watching because I was eager to be able to breathe a sign of relief...that didn't last long...instead I watched in fear (even crying at one point) seeing the mob of Trump supporters who were there for one mission only...to stop the counting and destroy democracy. It was so surreal, and I had the same feeling on 9/11. It's so essential to learn how to speak to others on this subject because it is no longer working to just start off with Trump is a threat to our democracy. It gives them tools for their "whataboutisms". This educational series will help us learn how to do so. Thank you!

I'm in Australia and I was "watching" it unfold via Twitter in real time too. I knew before it happened that it was going to happen and people on Twitter were reassuring each other that if we all knew it was happening, then the FBI, CIA and police must be all over it, too. But they either weren't watching Twitter, or they stood aside. I have been wanting to shout out to the various investigations "I knew it was going to happen and I'm on the other side of the world in a different time zone! Why didn't you???"

Are you talking about the SALT cap for itemized deductions? What does that have to do with corporations at all?

The Salt Tax refers to the ability to deduct one’s state taxes from their federal taxes. So if you live in a state with high state taxes, you deduct that from your federal taxes and pay a lower portion to the federal tax. Red states with low or no state tax pay a higher portion to their federal tax.

@@floridamanrides863 SALT stands for state and local taxes. The IRS allows you to deduct taxes paid to other municipalities so you're not paying taxes on money you don't have due to taxes. However, it's not a credit, so it's not like you get to take the same amount off of your federal taxes that you paid to your local government. You just don't have to include it in your taxable income. You also only get to deduct it if you itemize your deductions. This means that if someone pays $10K in taxes to NY, they reduce their federal tax burden by $3,700 if they are in the highest tax bracket, and only if they itemize. They're still paying more in taxes, it's just spread around to different levels of government. I don't understand why that's an issue for you?

@@willsyfrett4634 so i live in Florida, obviously, we have a zero state tax. Does the federal government receive more or less money from me than someone who lives in New York making the exact same amount of money?

@@floridamanrides863 that depends on how much you make, whether you pay any other taxes (like property taxes on a home or vehicle), and whether you itemize your deductions. If you don't itemize and neither does the person in NY, no you don't pay any more. If you do itemize it gets a little trickier to answer your question. I can say that either you pay the same in taxes or less overall.
