I like to think that Mapleshade caused the rock slide that killed Oakheart during his fight with Redtail. It would make sense for her to do it. This is amazing.

One of the themes of the book is that Mapleshade never had any true power over him. She abused his "destiny" and made him think she was the cause of all his grief, and by extension his promise. Brambleberry talks to him about it at the end of the book.

@@talk4dews yeah, but I’m pretty sure she caused Oakheart’s death. In one part of the book, Mapleshade moves a ball towards the group so that Willow gets caught by Twolegs. That basically means she can interact with the living world. Of course, she couldn’t give Willow greencough, give Silverstream birth problems, and kill off Shellheart through the sore thing, but she could in theory move the rock to kill Oak.
