My husband and I were there on May 4th 1997 and there was a spirit in the air. We got pictures from the photographer for the Beacon Journal and the Kent Stater.

Neil did write the song...but I wouldn't call Steven Stills singing it a cover...I mean the song debuted on a CSNY record.

True! And Neil wrote it in 4 part harmony. It was always meant to be a CSNY song. But technically it is a Neil Young song. I'm not sure how that works? Can you "cover" a song you sing on? I don't know!?!?!

More simply, it isn't a cover if you were the musicians in the group that made it a hit. It is a cover if anyone else plays it.
